I have been putting double webs on my rifter instead of a web and a warp disruptor.. i find that frigates are popped before they even think about warping. im only quite new.. do people use this as a viable setup? |

Edited by: Navtiqes on 23/01/2009 07:50:25 I guess you're trolling, but I might aswell clear it up to not confuse new guys. If you have actually succeded with it, then thumbs up for you though.
It's not a viable setup solo. And you usually want a scrambler on a frigate, not the beforementioned disrupter. Duel webs could be viable for a secondary tackler in a fleet to stop someone fast... I guess.

If you are talking about fighting real people, the only reason they died was because they were too dumb to warp out. If you are talking about rats, well, they are dumb and always fight to the death no matter what.
Just a side note here, but webbing someone actually makes it easier for them to warp out, especially double webs, as the mechanics involved with entering warp are based on your current top speed, which you are lowering with the webs, thus allowing the target to reach warpable speeds quicker. <-------------------------------------------------> "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former." -Albert Einstein |

Yeah you've just been lucky. People might assume that since you're webbing them you're also scramming them... and I mean kudos for pulling that off though. Not everyone defaults to the "flight" option of fight-or-flight when engaged in unwanted PvP so simply laying into them with the webs and guns will make them think they're stuck in the fight.
I'd put a scram on the ship though or you won't be able to stop more experienced PvPers, or people who'd rather ditch the fight than hopelessly engage a superior ship.
Dual webs is fine for gangs though, when someone else is tackling.

2nd web is mostly used to keep a target from MWDing away (to a gate for instance), you really don't (shouldn't) need the 2nd web to get your tracking to work. A scrambler also disables the MWD and because of that is MORE effective than a second web, if the target tries to flee using his MWD.
So; fit a scrambler+web, most of the time that's better than just 2 webs, also because webbing decreases align time (as explained above).

Yup. Its only the 2-pt scrams that stop MWD, though. The 1-pt disruptors don't. They also renamed a bunch of scram and disruptor modules that where vaguely named "inhibitors" and "jammers" and such. Warp jammer modules now properly have "scrambler" or "disruptor" in their names. |

heh I was watching a fraps of a kill the other day and I never managed to put a point on the guy... he was in a drake too.
I like to have a point on my ships, as well if they are bigger than a frigate they will probably have a chance to warp off without one. and well, Frigates (and cruisers) warp before I can even target them most of the time.
