Ok I've read through a lot of these post and boy oh boy, I see that there are so many stupid things that really don't need to be changed...
Whatever lol
I think I have something that is good ^^ (as pointless as it is)
The medals are a sweet addition to the game, so you can award medals for the stupidity of members (thats what I do =P) but something never made that much sense to me: the price.
I get the initial fee, but 5 mil every time you give the award out?
Its not really a matter of affordability, its more the idea of it all. I vote either to drop the continuing fee of 5mil per, or put it to 100k isk or something. I mean, these medals must be solid gold, err, golden omber, to be worth 5 mil per. I don't know how you guys feel, so let meh know peoples

I have to Agree with the original post 100%. 5 mill to create is not to much but 5 mill every time I award one, it seems excessive. If I missing the reason let me know. I love awarding medals and like the original poster even more so like to give out when my members do something stupid like shooting at a POS 1 min before the war is active there by receiving the "Concordia" award. Please bring down the price for awarding medals.

If it's not a matter of affordability, then why drop the price? Why do you care at all in the first place?
It's a shiney ISK sink. Thats why its 5 mil.
If it's too expensive stop giving out medals for every time one of your coprmates farts on vent.

As far as i understand it, the medals are to award players, if you hand out candy to everyone who does well it stops being so much of a reward and is just common place. So the medals are a bit of an isk sink to try and make it so people only hand out medals when someone has actually earned it and to make them of some value. |

5mil is maybe to cheap. Think about serverload when everyone would spam medals. (They are sticky to the pilot and as such a load over time)
Just as hint: normally such topics should be deleted or closed because of its non-topic specific topic title. |

But farts are funny and people deserve medals for that. It's a game, remember, and everyone I play with, including myself, play it for fun. Goofing off and making yourself look like an idiot is all part of the game IMO. But the point of the medals and what they're awarded for is sort of irrelevant to the pointless cost.
If it was a problem affording it I wouldn't be giving them out in the first place, the point is 5mil every time doesn't make much sense after you design them. Whats the point paying 5 mil every time? |

Yeah yeah fixed the title...
And since you can see the medals on ships or anything, you have to load the players info and go to the medals, I'm not sure how much demand its on the server. I'm not saying you're wrong, I just can't see why it would be server intensive. |

Yes and being awarded a medal for being stupid is still being awarded. Everyone just doesn't get one, its based on their actions. And if that comment was something to do with role play, then, well I can't comment because 1) I hate role play and 2) not everyone likes to follow the "story."
No offense, but they get their medals awarded, and its not like they can sell them, so they're really of no value. |

Yes except stupidity is quite common and just about everyone should have a medal for that. Thus signifying nothing because if everyone has one all it says is everyone is stupid and you dont need to give everyone a medal, just assume they're all ******s from the start.. could even put it in your corp description for free.
Medals would have no value if they had no cost because people would hand them out for stupid **** like you've already said you would. So they were given an artificial value of 5 mil isk per person to enforce an intrinsic value in the medal itself.

this, and it's probably intended as an ISK sink to some degree...

If you can't afford giving corp members medals every time they fart, then you're doing it wrong.
Go take over a dysp moon or something. (Assuming your corp suffers from excessive flatulence, else you should be able to manage using a 2nd grade moon of some kind)

If they werent 5 mill then ceo's would simply hand them out wily nilly (yes you read correctly, i just said willy nilly), and they would hold little meaning.
This way medals are actually awarded for decent achievements rather than trivial bogus. |
