What do I search for when probing for a mission/mission runner?
Anomaly, Signature, structure?

With astrometrics IV, I always go for everything but Cosmic Signatures (these are for exploration only).
If you only have astrometrics I, go either for "ships" or "drones & probes".
Getting a lock on a ship is hard. I barely only get them if the mission runner in question just jumped to the mission deadspace gate.
With drones you will have to be lucky. You will either get a signal on a lonely pair of drones, leftover drones from a mission with wreck by their arses, or just-deployed drones from mission runners, in with by that case you will either jump on top of the guy or the mission deadspace gate.

You should do everything but structure. I have gotten exploration hits off of recon probes before. I got a site accurate to about 3-4000km off a spook the other night. Switched launchers and used a sift and did it. Not likely but possible. |

This depends on the system you're trying. Come to Dodixie, home of the Whopper. With 250+ Pilots, I usually get 10-20 hits per scan. Of course, with Astrometrics IV, Astrometric Pinpointing IV, Astrometric Triangulation IV, Signal Acquisition IV, as well as a rigged CovOps, and my scanning Implants, I also get some bonuses, but hey, I am Tchell Dahhn.

If you can get within 4AU of a mission runner (IE: 600,000,000 KM) you can simply use a scan probe launcher and a regular probe that's meant to find the signal strength of that ship your hunting for (80% Raven/CNR/Golem so all the same there). Almost guarantee a hit on the first scan. And yeah, you search for a ship signature even with normal probes. If they are 4AU+ then just go for recon probe launcher and search for drones and ships.

Thanks for the tips guys. Spent about 3 Hours probing down Mission runners. Used all the tips here (Have Astrometrics IV)
Usually I get a hit on Tech 1 Drones I know some drake just ran a level 3 and sometimes the wrecks are left behind
Tomorrow I will try the 4au race specific type probes as I did warp on to a few medium signal victims that were nowhere in sight
I've made more isk today and ALL for myself than ever before and faster too.

I can remember you being utterly useless in faction warfare, good too see you have found your niche. |

Thanks again for the info
Experienced my first setback today..... Warped in on a carebear during a toxic cloud mission. My Buzzard was instantly VaPooRized

So these exploration sites are in 0.0 or low sec?

Exploration sites are in all security areas: 0.0, lo and hi. The hisec sites are, in general, less valuable then the low/null sec sites. Exploration sites are found with Scan probes/launcher (not Recon probe/launcher) to find a Deadspace Signature. |

Do the drones survive for long if someone leaves them behind in recon 3/3 ?

1) ships in deadspace are harder to find 2) drones in deadspace don't seem to be harder to find
I find that searching for the drones vastly increases my chance of a result. 5 chances un nerfed vs 1 chance nerfed with each scan.

Drones are not any easier to find. It's just the likelyhood of finding is signature is increased due to the number of signatures. |

I thought they were "easier" to find because they are running their little MWDs all the time. Twas waht i heard!! |
