If they want the stuff tested, they better put this on the test server yesterday already. If they're intending to release a new boxed version, it'd somehow make a better impression, don't you think.
But it appears to be another silly compressed time plan thing. |

true if they are releasing a boxed version, surely they need time to beta test etc, before doing a release to gold to get discs printed.
unless the boxed version is a link and a gtc?

no need to beta test or anything like that. As i understand it, the box version will contain a CD/DVD that has the full client that you would download off the eve-online web site. Thus there is nothing to really test. |

If they actually intend to allow us to test it, Im expecting it by the end of January (initial parts) to mid February.
If they don't intend to let us test any of it, then we simply won't get it. |

It is quite concerning that it's not already on the test server. This new expansion will have to be RTM well before the shipping date so they can adequately provide enough copies for stores across the world. That is typically a month or so before it hits retail. That leaves a month for CCP to iron out bugs and other major issues. |

Not really. All they need is the graphic/audio/whatever assets, the big stuff (MB-wise). The code itself (and ship/module/whatever attributes, game mechanics, mission content and so on), that can keep on changing up until the very last minute... it's only a small patch afterall.

I expect they will role out the production of the DVD's with a Quantum Rise version of the client and simply have new installs patch up to Apocrypha with everyone else. Think about it, when was the last time you installed a game from a DVD and there was not a mandatory multiplayer patch? This is much more practical and really is the only way they will be able to make the last minute changes that always come and also have time to gear everything up for the launch. There are a huge number of things that have to come together for the launch of a game title to get the timings all right, even one that is out on download already. Besides, Atari have been making making games for over 30 years so i'm sure they know what they are doing

As always, idlers in #eve-chaos are better informed than everyone else:
(15:58:59) (+Maarud) when is the T3 stuff gonna be around for testing? (15:59:18) (&Oneiromancer) Not earlier than mid-February (15:59:31) (&Oneiromancer) Art is hard at work on the models |

Sounds about right, most testing and tweaking will be done internally, and then put on Singularity for consumer feedback and to catch any glaring things that the internal QA may have missed in the rush. |
