My girlfriend and I have been doing the SoE mission arc. We were on the quest, Planting the body, and she died.
For some inexplicable reason when we both warped to the deadspace area. where you plant the body, it took us to two identical areas so she was alone. I was fine in my cruiser but she got killed in her catalyst.
I have cleared both the area I was warped to and her identical area.
Problem now is that she does not have a body to plant. It's gone, and it was not on the wreckage of her catalyst. The sister who gave us the mission won't give her another one.
Does she quit the mission to restart it or what do we do? I don't want to continue without her.
Any fast reply would be greatly appreciated. |

It's not fleet mechanics which aren't designed with missions in mind in the first place but PvP, it's the fact that you both have your own missions that you both need to accomplish and most if not all missions are usually meant to be done solo. Not so long ago you could happily shoot any poor chump who you happened to be in fleet with without concorde intervention...
Okay not so long ago was 3-4 years ago but you get the drift that game hasn't aways exactly encouraged social interaction between non-corp members and the mission structure still resembles that. |

Nate Nichols wrote: EDIT EDIT: Fleet dynamics needs a major over haul. She placed the body in the instance I was in and it did not work. So now it has to be reset AGAIN. Why this has to be so utterly confusing and weird is beyond me. Back to square one. GM response in game was that they will not reset it again.
So you don't understand missions and fleets and becasue you f- up you conisder unsubing? It was ages ago I did missions seriously but you own your own mission, if you start one you need to complete it. You can't moving stuff from one instance into another like you seem to have done and expect it to finnish it. And expect a GM to reset it (again) because you don't understand the mechanics.
That said you can often find the items needed to finnish missions (not quests) on contract at fairly low prices. So if you don't have what's needed you can buy it and complete the thing. Not sure it works for you though.

Thanks for the pointers. Wasn't trying to rage or troll last night, we were both just very frustrated....and tired.
A GM had to reset it a few times. |

Not quite. For that to happen you'd need to have two people in fleet who were at war with each other.

A fast frigate is best for that mission - dash in, plant the DNA and gtfo. |

It's not the fleet mechanics, it's the fact that fleet mechanics have no relevance on the mission instances at all is the problem. Fleets for missions is simply help for your mission, not collaboration on the same mission.
Every player has their own missions and so for a storyline like the epic arc every mission will have to be done twice for each member. When a reward is an object that only the player that accepted the mission gets it. If you share rewards it just gives you the ISK, LP and standings but if there were any other particulars they only go to the main player.
Also for normal agents aside from the career agents and the epic arc agents they all give you mission randomly. This would probably illustrate the fleet missioning system to you rather quickly cause you and your girlfriend will very likely not get the same mission at the same time. The Drake is a Lie |

Okay.
Just to be certain for future reference, lets say my gf and I get the same mission again.
To do it together we would:
1. I jump into deadspace where the mission has to be done.
2. My gf jumps to me. We kill whatever NPC's are around. I complete whatever objectives I have to do.
3. My gf jumps into deadspace from wherever we are, to do the same mission herself.
4. I jump to her. We kill the NPC's. She completes the same objectives in her personal instance.
5. Return to agent? |

Pretty much. Every time you accept a non-courier mission a new complex is spawned in space. So when your GF and you accepted your missions you created two identical complexes in different parts of space.

not quite. That feature was taken out (IIRC) with Trinity. |

Though it was definitely not with Trinity. Way later than that. |

This is not like wow where you complete the same quests in the same are at the same time.
You have your SOE mission ARC.
And Your Girlfriend has hers.
Its more like your both independently contracted to work for SOE, and you need to help each other on your individual assignments.
This is not you both being assigned to the same project.
Its the nature of PVE in EVE.
More group related stuff is incursions, sleeper sites and DED complexes.
If you want to team up for non arc missions one has to accept the mission and then when you get the rewards you can choose to split them or not.

It is considering the timespan this game has existed in, and the rather dramatic changes it has gone through since then.
It is also considering the fact that "the internet" and it's widespread availability is only some 20-odd years "old".
So yeah.. given the rate of evolution of both this game and the technology behind it, 3-4 years is a long time.
and dammit... every time I see this thread title I keep thinking it is about decking out your ship with frozen corpses.. Highsec isn't "Safe".-á Neither is it a playground for bullies and bottomfeeders. So stop complaining and start playing the game already. |

If you want to PvE with your girlfriend missions are not the best place to do it. Belt ratting, deadspace and such would work better. |
