I've really come to miss the post-patch updates that tell us what old exploits were fixed. I can understand not discussing current exploits, and I can understand not telling us which ones are going to be fixed. But why stop doing the updates to tell us which ones have been eliminated?

Because it may lead to inspiration?
No, seriously, think about it. Let's say Exploit A is found and used by a lot of people. It is announced as an exploit until it can be fixed. But then some clever person think that there might be a way around the issue, tests it and discovers Exploit B. CCP only knows of A, so they only fix that, but people continue to take advantage of B.
Same thing with telling us what HAS been fixed. There will always be at least one person trying something similar and that may lead to new exploits being found. It helps the game in the long run to find these problems, of course, but until they are deemed exploits, they are bad...

It's a deterrant, and a psy-ops move by CCP. By saying they fixed bugs and exploits, but not detailing WHAT exploits, the people who use the exploits never know if CCP caught onto them or not, thereby leaving them in a constant state of extreme risk. ---

CCP deliberately programs game mechanics that they know can be exploited. They do it for fun. The exploit is specifically targeted at the playstyle of individual players that CCP personally hate. Prove me wrong.

dealing with all this whiny bs on the forums I would think would be a major disincentive to nerf.
although the sociological data collected from seening how fast people will jump on the bandwagon, or shout out against it might make it worth it.

The only time we actually see an exploit fix in the patch notes is when it was already posted all over the boards and everybody knows about it.
Then CCP posts the fix. Other then that they don't post.
But then again, who is to say that isn't just a cut and past off the last patch and no exploits were fixed @ all. Then again there might be no exploits to fix. Or there might be hundreds of them and CCP isn't talking about it cause it hasn't become a wide spread problem yet. or or or or or or

The exploits are sometimes still possible on the test server after tranq is patched so they don't announce them.

The reason they don't show the exploits in the patch notes is because the chinese EVE server, Serenity gets patched some time after Tranquility. Allowing public view of the exploits then allow the players on Serenity to exploit the game.

It's true, people got banned from 4Chan and then used their own anime time machine to go back in time and join SA.

Well, ya know, Dirk is kinda on to something.
Remember the BACON nerf that was done with logserver? I distinctly remember a CCP blue bar guy saying that they had known for months about BACON and programs like it, but they only took action AFTER it had gotten a widespread public release. Can't find the post in question, but I do remember it. -----

Can't be bothered to look for the Dev post, but one of the said that they don't publish exploit details when patching Tranquility because Serenity isn't normally patched at the same time.
It would not be a good idea to publicly document exploits while they can still be used against a live game server.
By the time Serenity gets patched, I doubt that anyone at CCP could be bothered to go back and update the patch notes for Tranquility.
My only concern with this lack of documentation, is that CCP has already shown that they have very loose definitions on what constitutes an exploit vs. bug vs. feature: I wonder how many features are silently removed or changed under the context of exploit, along the lines of how Ghost Training was classified by some at CCP as a bug/exploit, while much of the community had built the expactation of it being a feature. CCP is certainly able to change the features that they offer, but those changes should be documented, and they won't be documented if they are swept under the carpet as exploits.
