*Wed 11:00*
Nothing worked. Warp drive acting weird. FPS was <1/s, modules unresponsive. Freezing systems and total crash when my ship was destroyed. Brackets were ON
*Thurs 15:00*
Client windowed to prevent OS crash.System was responsive. Modules were lagged but responded. Average frame rate was 5/s. Ship was destroyed, again client unresponsive, log server crashed. Brackets were ON.
Returned to battle without log server. Turned brackets OFF. Systems started working much better but there were less participants in the battlefield. ---

CPU E6850 at 3Ghz GPU 8800GT RAM 2 GB windows XP sp3
Average fps alone : 180 in windowed mode.
Thursday 11:00 GMT
All effects on, just the default bracket with gang/squad members and useless objets removed. Eve voice on, local and fleet chat opened. First meeting at the planet with gang members, correct fps around 30. Few lag effect but fine. Jumping into the action made things alot worst. Very low fps, <5 most of the time, very bad response from my weapons. Even the rof of my siege launchers got affected (several minutes between salvos). Think i fired 20-30 salvos in a 45 min fight. To make things clear this test was a nightmare. Anyway , Eve voice was keep working in the background during the long freezes.
Thursday 15:30 GMT
New patch is much better, same settings as last patch, an average of 20-30 fps in action, weapons responses were very good as well as the rof. Drones worked good, few freezes during the battle due to multiple massive explosions or heavy incoming into the grid. All was fine till the crash of the game (1h of action i think) to the desktop with a nice termination message from the OS. Was unable to restart the client, keep getting the same error message. Waited an hour without restarting computer an tried to start the Eve client and worked fine. No idea of what happened on this crash (ghost of the client in memory? ).

Edited by: DaDutchDude on 21/11/2008 12:08:30 I already gave my feedback on the test yesterday, but thought I'd add a suggestion.
Help people make the test more usefull by providing them with a more detailed test script with test objectives well before the test starts. Try to make a "fill this out" form with clear instructions on not only how to log into Sisi and what ship/weapons people should use, but also what the rule sof engagement are, what data you would like them to collect, what settings they should use or try out, etc. This would get you more usefull data because there is more of a focus on what you'd like to test out. If you only ask afterwards and don't ask specifics, people might not have remembered or tried the things you were most interested in.
Hope that helps. Good luck on the test this afternoon. |

Test: Thurs 11:00
CPU: Intel E6600 GPU: Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTX RAM: 2GB Average FPS: 0 - 10. Usually around 5-8. With occassional hard freezes. Also, FPS didn't change even if i was looking away from the battle.
Couldn't do very much. Local graphics lag was way too intense.

Wed 11:00 Average fps with brackets: 0-2 W/O: Not tested Overall: Inital warp in was fine, <5 seconds grid load.
When the battle started however: Module lag was very apparent, missile cycles were taking around 3 minutes each. Was taking damage strangly (the effects were they, and the notification, but no change in sheild or armor). Some freezes of up to 20 seconds, a few minutes on grid load rejoining fight. Sound was on during the test, with EVE Voice. All effects on, zoomed in.
Wed 16:00 Average Fps with brackets: 10 Average Fps with out brackets: 20+ Overall: NO module lag, missiles were firing on time at the end of every module timer. Grid load in under 30 seconds. Damage was working normally. Sound was off, but still on Eve Voice. All other effects were on, zoomed in at all times. Very playable experiance

Thurs 11:00
AMD Athlon XP3200+
ATI Radeon 9700 pro
1GB DDR 400
Average FPS 0.1
Ping ~360ms(NZ)
Significant lag at the form up point(planet 1). Zooming out helped a lot. Disabled brackets and effects before warping into the fight. After warping to the fight there was a delay of about 30 seconds before ships appeared on screen and overview. The UI essentially became unusable after about 10 seconds, although I somehow managed to lock onto a frozen corpse. I hit the buttons for full speed and afterburner but stayed stationary throughout. I could hear primary and secondary targets being called through voice. Saw the occasional explosion and had occasional messages about taking damage. Tried to activate armor reppers but never saw them do anything.
PC was more or less unresponsive. Couldn't bring up task manager even.

Test: wendsday@ 11:00 GMT CPU: amd athlon 64x2 5600 GPU: ATI radeon hd 3870 RAM: 4 x 1024MB, DDR2 800mHz clock Average FPS: 2? Premium client
Well terrible lag. 30s after jumpin the other ships appeared somehow. Overview was almost unusable, due to moving and shifting of the entries (Stabilizing the overview would be a great thing). Got a little better after brackets where off. Tactial overview failed sometimes. Icons in the selected target window doublicated, having the same icons up to 5 times in different sizes.
Still some fun somehow ;)

I get the impression from all these posts and looking at the specs that ATI cards are a bad idea when it comes to eve-online and you need more than 2GB+ of DDR.

Sorry for the late response. I Missed the thread.
Anyways, I participated on the Wednesday at the 1100 gmt test.
Athlon 3000, a 8600 gt sli with 128 megs, 2 gigs at ddr400 using 7516 nvida driver set.
Older i know. cannot afford to replace it just yet.
Observations during the test server fleet fight.
My fps was under 1 it varied between 1 frame every 4-10 seconds to at time 1 frame ever 20-30 seconds. This is the Not the worst ive seen in fleet lag. But it was the worst ive seen for the number of people on the screen. The times it has been worse was in fights containing 300+ per side. In which modules still worked if slowly. 100-100 man fleets my machine was fine with prior to this patch. Averaging about 2-5 fps. Playable. only just.
I was flying a moros for this fight.
We warped in and started locking people. The lag at this point was fine. It steadily got worse over the next 2 mins. I managed to lock up 2 people deployed my drones and started shooting at 1 person. At this point a capital ship was called primary. Which is my call to turn on siege mode and re target.
At this point is where the fleet/ module lag got beyond playable. As I hit the siege button. Nothing happens. 45 mins later nothing had happened. I was unable to do anything beyond this point. I could not even Unlock my first two targets. Which one finally died to my drones. Which unlocked it 20 mins after I had targeted it. _____________________________________________
