1 week ago a thread was opened to see if anyone was having frame rate/lag issues(see link above) Currently, the thread has 118 replies and almost 5000 reads. Almost every player who replied were dealing with this frustrating LAG issue.
For 1 whole week CCP failed to respond in the thread!!!
TODAY , CCP FINALLY responded to the thread!!!!!!
And what was their response???? They LOCKED the thread and told us the topic was OLD and to go post elsewhere!!!!
Quote: This thread is old, has been derailed and Post Quantum Rise issues should not be posted here.
LMAO, WOW CCP, I'm seriously at a loss for words at this action CCP Casqade has just taken

Hi Cuchulain Spartan
The thread you are referring to is from "2008.10.19" ( Posted - 2008.10.19 21:01:00 ) This is way before Quantum Rise was released which means that the client issues people are experiencing after Quantum Rise has nothing to do with this thread. This is the reason why it was locked.
The forum is not a bug tracking tool, if you post things here without filing a bug report at the same time, your report will usually get lost in the sheer number of other forum threads. Tracking bugs is done via the bug reporting system. There is nothing wrong with posting a thread and asking people to do the same or asking other people who have similar issues for help. This was however in the wrong place and to stop the confusion I locked the thread. |

My apologies CCP Casqade,
I confused the thread mentioned above titled "EVE is freezing for 2-4 Seconds - every 30 Seconds ...."
with the thread titled "LAG!!! After patch "
http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=922507&page=4
Both discuss a similiar problem and this is where the confusion arose. I should have paid more attention to the dates. I blame this error on my frustrations with the current operation of Eve post QR patch and the lack of feedback to customers that both myself and many other players have posted about recently.
And yes, I have submited error reporting via the official procedure.
Again, my apologies CCP Casqade for this oversight on dates.
Cuc
PS any chance you could fix the lag problems post QR, thx |

It still doesn't justify the fact that communication from your support team has been virtually non existant in the last week since the QR patch CCP.
Particularly on the big threads. I for one haven't been able to get into the game since the QR patch, but hey, I'm still paying for my subscription. If you ignore people's complaints, they get frustrated and this is what happens.

actually i have tested this. with sitting still in a point in space with nothing changing around me.
and i see my fps go from 60-80 to 10-20 and change between that every 10-15 minutes. without touching or changing or moving or anything changing within my near.
then again i also have the vanishing gate/station/ship issue. also have tried everything to fix that with things like deleting cache switch between premium and classic stop weapon grouping no succes tough.
but i totally agree with the starter of this topic that there is a lack of response from ccp on the issues. i mean even a "we are looking into it" would make ppl happy.
and i tought this forum was for these issues to adress them to try and work them out. i might be wrong. |

It can be difficult (read impossible) to submit a bug report that is useful when people only have indications of lag and no other problems. It was once said that poor written BR's were thrown out before they were look'd at, so if I send in a BR that says "game is laggy" symptoms "laggy game" reproduction steps "play the game" then I rekon it doesnt stand much of a chance.
of course, my OS isnt supported anymore so I guess my BR's wouldnt count anyhow :/...

I was thinking about filing a bug report.
But tbh, I am not the test team.
I suggest CCP's Q&A gets a prototype group of around 1000 volunteers who actually play the game a bit longer. These lag issues would've popped up then and you had to be able to fix them. Provide the volunteers with free playtime as reward and make sure it's a 100% reflection of the actual game + database. Also I don't know if nightly build are normal, but then you might had catch the software which caused this lag spike.
And I was monitoring my clients last night. My main was pvp'ing and at 400mb it got reset to a wooping 150 mb in mem use, but the freighter which was hauling in the background arrived at Jita, and when I looked at it, the lag was tremendous. So I restarted that client and everything was okay. Funny thing was, it kept on hauling but nothing happened again. The only thing different was the fact that eve got quieter because it was like 2-3 am GMT allready. I also had no problem starting a 3rd and 4th client, although they got closed really fast after updating some orders. ----------------- Destiny is not a matter of chance. It is a matter of choice. It's not a thing to be waited for - it is a thing to be achieved. |

Additionally, I myself find the whole bugreporting protocol quite odd and most unsatisfying.
When one has an issue the response given goes along the lines of "Please do this-and-this-and-this-and-this-and-this-and-this-and-this" otherwise we cant help you.
While I recognize the need for specific information I find the way suggestions of issues on the forum are often approached lacking extremely in courtesy. I know you are trying to improve your product, and yes I am able to take all the required actions (although I know of a bunch of people that wouldn't), but both asking this commitment of a customer being stuck with a failing product plus also being very short and strict about any alternative request for help is VERY aggravating.
The frustration of the OP seems to me like a result of what we all read every day, issues that are earlier met with silence or a smack on the wrist about following appropriate bug reporting protocol than with an acknowledgement of a widespread issue.

Customer support can be reached via the Petition system, nothing else.

You are not and we're not asking you to be. We are asking people who are experiencing this problem to bring something to the table, to be constructive. Saying "My client gets laggy, fix it!" over and over again isn't constructive and does not provide any information other than that there might be a problem somewhere. This is something we already know.
If you try to be a bit more specific and say "After 3 hours of playing the game, the client becomes laggy", it gives us a bit more to go on, it gives us a time frame. If you then tell us what you did during those 3 hours of playing, we know roughly what is causing it. This combined with other people reporting similar things gives us a pattern which we then can track down to what kind of game play is causing this. We can also find that there are more than one issue causing the problem. Usually it is multiple issues that cluster up and causing something to happen.
The best thing to have in a bug report is always "When I do X Y and then Z, the client gets laggy - Here are the logs from it and screenshots" then we have something rock solid. We realize that this is not always possible, of course.
I'd like to thank all of the people who have sent bug reports about the performance issues during the last few days, they have been very helpful and we're making good progress on tracking all of the related issues down and fixing them.

CCP Cascade maybe you are right, and people are lazy to fill bug reports. But as that guy above said we are not the test team. Your guys cant play the game and see what is causing it? It doesnt seem that is a computer issue, it seems it is a client bug issue, so how can you guys not run across it during your bug huntings?.... QR client is heavily bugged and btw interval settings do nothing,.. for me at least...

I would love to say this is an exceptional occurrence, but its not is it CCP. Every time you release a patch (and letĘs face it that is what QR is) major things go wrong for a large section of players.
Surely you can't miss this stuff in testing. It must be the old 'Deploy and fix in the field' approach which displays a total lack of respect for your paying customers, the ones who put food on your table

This is where CCP failed. It shouldn't have taken a whole WEEK to acknowledge there was a problem.
Next time try a forum post acknowledging that there are problems but more information is needed, except try it on day 1 or day 2, not day 8. A semi decent post patch forum thread may save you guys a few accounts, perhaps enough to hire a monkey to do it for you after every patch. |

Since the release of Quantum Rise we have been getting reports from players about client performance. We have been reading those reports, analysing the scenarios, testing and reviewing code since the release. We now have a couple of fixes ready and a few more in the pipes, which we think may address the problems you are describing, and we want your help in testing them on Singularity. Please read this thread for more information; CCP Tanis. is organising the testing effort.

Aye, agreed on both accounts.
Also, while specific feedback is invaluable when fixing bugs, people have been saying when the lag has been happening and just hazarding a guess, submitting petitions -which even if the wrong method, can't these just be sent / re-directed to those responsible for helping to address the performance issues?- and posting many many comments on the subject right here in this forum area. |

You've made a great game, we love it, and people love the fact that you are continually building and enhancing the game.
But.
You need to communicate better to your player base. You need to reassure them, we are like frightened kittens in a thunderstorm when a patch comes out.
You must set a standard that you will even just do a forum post acknowledging problems and that you're fixing them.
The petition system is effective yes, but people will always want to collectively rant about their problems its human nature. A simple couple of posts earlier this week could have saved CCP a lot of face.
