Edited by: Harakiri on 07/07/2004 09:09:23 95% sure your graphics card cant handle the requirements to play EVE .. sorry , you probably need a better grapics card ... A geforce 2 or better , ATI7200 or better or matrox parhelia is recommended ..

i had the same prob with my GeForce 4 MX440 (upgraded sinse) but if you move your mouse around a bit when your at the black screen then if you can hear the mouse moving over the diffrent tabs then if you have a S Video port you should be able to fix it by hooking it into your TV then if you can see the game through your TV press Escape and change your Screen Resolution on the game
it could be that you just need a new video card but the S video solved my prob with the black screen

Hi, Looking on the intel site regarding your chipset even the latest version with improved graphics support only supports "DX7*/DX8*/OGL*1.1" the minimum requirement for eve is a direct x9 compatable card to ensure a stable game you would definately need to upgrade your graphics card.
if you can download the the latest WHql signed driver for your board you may be able to get into the game but you may suffer stuttering in graphics and random crashes to the desktop, 90% of black screen issue can be resolved by using signed whql graphics drivers.
