Originally by: Arthur Frayn Does it also mean you can smuggle boosters through highsec with this change?
boosters are like any illegal item. You can fly around fairly easily until you hit customs agents. Which the moment that happens.. you are scramed and webbed to hell. You arent going anywhere.
So the cov-op cloak literally does nothing to improve your chances at hiding. ------------------------ "There was this bright flash of light - and now this egg shaped thing is on my screen - did I level up?" |

Crane will warp and outrun a gate camp almost instantly and that's unfitted. With skills I can get my Crane into warp in under 3 seconds.

Hmmm, a reason to fly an occator over an iteron Mk V say it ain't so! I might just have to buy one. A blockade runner able to run... blockades? What is happening here! I don't understand =/

tbh i didnt think there was anything wrong with them
i can get my prowler past most gatecamps except those with boobles and even then i can usually make it back to the gate with it
its not broken, dont fix it the +2 strength is fine tbh cos u can still warp faster than most ships can lock ---------------------------------------------

If he's trying to say 1.5c, then a Blockade Runner certainly has it beat — 9.0 AU/s = 4491c.

Yes, which is why the quote is sometimes retconned to mean that the Kessel run is through a particularly difficult-to-navigate swath of space where you kan shorten the distance by a lot if you're a crack pilot in an agile ship.

The risk v. reward is borked in favor of reward.
even that is overpowered. there is a trick to get out of trouble.
select a direction, press cloak , press mwd. ship will cloak with mwd speed. you should be able to get a few km away from the spot that u started at.
if the blockade runners get the improved t2 they will almost always get out of a buble camp and stuff like that. dont think that is fair.

There's a quest in WoW called "Kessel Run", which is done for a guy named Kessel, and has a 15 minute timelimit

indeed, in empire (aka no bubbles) they are 99.5% immune.

Of course it is fair. A blockade runner must "almost always" defeat a camp, or it is pointless. A BR, properly fitted, costs up to 100M, and can easily carry 1 bill worth of T2. A loss of that magnitude must be very infrequent or it's not worth making the run. A BR that gets caught will die, so they can't be escorted or protected. They can be scouted, with an advance force to clear camps, of course, but if you're going to all that trouble, you might as well load up an Interon V or whatever, and carry 7x the amount of cargo and make it worthwhile.

Knew this would come up... It may have originally been a technobabble mess up, but in the novels it's explained that Kessel is located in a black hole cluster. The safe routes are quite long and patrolled. A really fast smuggler's ship can take shorter routes by skimming very close to the black holes. |

I too find the fact that a ship designed to RUN BLOCKADES is being made able to RUN BLOCKADES. Travesty imho.

I like the idea for 0.0, but in low sec, a well fitted indi ship like badger two or mammoth can easily defeat most gate camps. as for remote hics. I wish id find one would pay off following my hauler in a pvp ship.
Was camping the enterance to 0.0 yesterday, first ship to come through was an iteron v full of pos structures. Sabre dropped a bub when the gate activated, inties swarmed, he died. Next ship was a Buzzard, same order cept my sabre mwd'd to the location he cloaked and bang uncloaked him. He died. Its all about the pilot, and still if a fleet camping gate has some fast ships that can close the distance to the location of gate in, even a cov cloak wont help much in a bubble unless the pilot knows to change direction right after cloaking, fit for a good speed while cloaked and burn to bubbles edge and jump away.
What the cov cloak will help with is getting chased down. If you dont have a bubble, and he cloaks up and warps in 3-5 seconds... you are not likely to catch him even if you uncloak him he will warp off immediately and recloak in warp. aswell it gives the transport the power to jump to a gate in secret and so therefore not getting noticed by the player watching the gate before the bubble, or the ships looking for him.
Finally isnt that what its supposed to be? a transport ship with reduced cargo space for increase survivability. Not being seen is a better defense than any warp stab module or speed mod, at least in my opinion.

I gotta say that the ability to use the Black Ops Jump Portal is sweet and was just the thing we needed. A problem you have when running a large SB/Black Widow gang is that you just don't have enough fuel to go roaming very far even if everybody loads up enough jump-juice in their holds to keep the Widow fed for the distnces you want to go. Also there's that whole Loot problem, after successful ganks you run out of space to put you loot (cause what ever is not ammo is fuel).
So W00t!

Completely agree or when your at a camp and you pop someone hauling pos fuel, or Pos parts, or cap ship parts.... good luck carrying them in your bs/hic/bs/ anything.... and if your deep in 0.0 a hauler is generally not in fleet, yes you can anchor a can... but then you gotta still haul the stuff out. Sir, the odds of successfully navigating a blockade is approximately three-thousand-seven-hundred-twenty to one!
