During a major fleet battle today in Tenal, one of the major editors of EveNews24.com decided to type racist remarks in local chat.
[18:05:30] riverini > DIE NIGGERS1 DIE!!!
The CFC members having been negatively affeccted by these racist remarks did the appropriate thing, and began to file petitions with CCP. However, within moments, a GM informed the CFC members that they should no longer file any petitions, and many petitions filed by members are already closed.
The CFC members were then told "just block him"
Blocking someone is not an action that all members of the CFC should have to take because another eve player decides to post racist remarks in local chat.
CCP really should make this pilot abide by TOS and EULA when playing this game, and if he cannot play the game along those lines, then maybe he should not be allowed to play. Why should we all suffer in this game due to a racist?

I've said it before and I'll say it again.
EvE Online is a cut throat gaming environment with evil individuals who will sell your mother to pilot their Tech3. You are getting offended over a derogatory word? Sure, it's widely inappropriate in Real Life, but with many games... There is a pvp solution.
If you don't like getting called names, teach them a lesson. Petitioning to get someone banned is not a legit strategy. It actually goes to show how weak you are.
If your skin isn't thick enough to shrug off such derogatory language, perhaps gaming in general is not for you. You will see this language everywhere. How you react to it is up to you.
Just hunt him down and pod him. Let him swear up and down because of that.
That's the beauty of EvE Online. Anything and Everything goes. The Game is player run. So run it. |

"Jew" is a recognised word with a non-abusive meaning. It's not more inherently insulting than calling someone "Christian" or "Bhuddist".
If words like "k*ke" were used, that would be a closer equivalent. Malcanis' Law: Any proposal justified on the basis that "it will benefit new players" is invariably to the greater advantage of older, richer players.

Riverini is a member of evenews24, a "prolific" news site and composes many pieces. He is...therefore a member of the press and a member/candidate for the CSM. He should be held to a higher standard than the rest of us. |

I see nothing wrong with CCP's response. Every single game has individuals who say racist things. I mean hell, anyone who has ever played World of Warcraft know exactly what "Barrens Chat" is.
I'm not racist in the least bit but I will never allow a child to offend me by spouting off ignorant things. I just laugh at his lack of education. Simply reading the word, even knowing it was said in a malicious way does not offend me. Even if it were directed at me.
It comes down to a simple comparison. Someone calls you a Buttface on the playground. At the age of 9, this is extremely offensive. What do you do? Do you run to mommy and tell? Do you sit there, smile and not give a damn? Or do you punch him in the friggn face?
If CCP did something for every single racist comment in EvE Online, we'd have noone to blow up. If you are offended by their chat, put them on block. I support CCP's response in this situation. |

Honestly, it's about who Riverini is. The editor of a prominent news site. He is in the public eye and thus should be better than the rest of us. This tarnishes his reputation and should not be done. Action needs to be taken now to restore faith in the process as well as the news organizations that post eve articles. |
