You'll like this:
Recently became able to fly an interceptor so I bought myself a shiny Taranis. Nice. So wondering how to fit it out I looked it up on the internets: Blasteranis.
Ok, so I had to earn the Isk grinding away in Empire and this morning I took it over into low sec and did some belt ratting with it. My heart rate went up a bit when I spotted two npc ships I remembered from missions, Minmatar boats, look like a bog brush.
Must be cruisers I thunk.
Okay, I'm the angry man, attack attack, mwd'ed in, orbited at 1000 blasting away with my t2 ions and my two trusty drones, I'm taking a little damage, glad I put a couple of shield extenders on it. Boom, he's gone, I'm at 75% shields, onto the next guy. Hell it was funny watching his shots going all over the place, I think it was autocannon from the sound of it. Bang! He's gone too, I'm at 50% shields! Whaaaat? Thats nuts.
So I'm looking in the item database for the flying Minmatar bog brush cruiser, can't see it, heck its a battlecruiser! (Cyclone) I larfed.
What a crazy little ship the Blasteranis is.

well it is a tech 2 ship... and I think cruisers will have an even bigger bit of trouble hitting you because they use a smaller amount of medium turrets instaid of a large amount of small turrets that track better.

Well, and don't flame me, I'm notoriously bad at setting up ships, its:
3x T2 Light Ions firing 1 x Antimatter, 2x Thorium Null 2x T2 Small Shield Extenders, 1x MWD 2x T2 Nanos 1x T2 Overdrive
1x Hobgoblin 1x Erm the blue Caldari one. (Its all I had handy)

You probably want your guns loaded with the same ammo for a start, just keep both types in your cargo and switch between them depending on what you need for the situation. If this is for killing rats etc. The small shield extenders make sense I'm not sure but can you fit mediums on a ranis? Lows are a little off though, if your going for pure speed you will want 2 Overdrives to one nano, gives more of a speed boost. Though speed is not the taranis' strength so don't expect to be able to escape anything moderatly fast. You probably want to put a MFS in there to boost damage as a good chunk of your dps comes from your guns and possibly a damage control if you want a bit more buffer if things go south (lol ranis structure tanks).

You have no scram/disruptor, they can leave the fight at any time. Start by adding a disruptor + web in place of the shield extenders.
Also, most b-ranis are not fit with the standard nano + 2x OD setup. Ranis is a slow ceptor but it has abnormal dps and structural hp. I recommend taking advantage of that. |

Err, no.
Go with a buffer tank and point/web/mwd in your mids.
Edit: Lows: DCU II, OD, Magstab.

So a bit of a tank in the mids makes sense.
On the other hand i don't like to shieldtank gallente ships.... but that's more of a personal quirk. I can see why you do it here.
And like one of the posters said, don't mix ammo. it only confizzles you.

The PvP fitting for the blasteranis is something along these lines
3x Ion Blaster II, (Salvager/Small remote rep/whatever as a heatsink in the third slot so you can overload longer) 1x 1mn Microwarpdrive, 1x Stasis webifier II, 1x Faint warp prohibitor 1x Damage control II, 1x Overdrive Injector II, 1x Magnetic field stabiliser II 2x Hobgoblin II.
You can swap the overdrive out for a second magstab if you go for a named damage control and named web, if you want even more damage. Although it'll cost you some speed.
Either use speed related rigs or damage related rigs. I usually put on a hybrid RoF rig for a bit more dps.

A bog is a toilet and so a bog brush is a toilet brush for removing splatter marks from the sides And id guess the ship was a stabber

That setup kinda sucks.
3x neutron IIs, small nos. (Load them up with void, if you want some boost of range, use Null. Also never mix ammo.) Mwd, web, scram. small rep II, dcu II, micro aux power core.

They are a nice ship but they seem a bit over-rated to me.
From what I'd heard I thought blasteranis was a ship to be feared, I was in 0.0 sitting off of a gate in my Jaguar, when one locked me and I started to get a bit worried but decided to stay and fight thinking I was going to loose my Assault Frig.
He flew it kind of funny, sort of dive bombed me a few times, flew past me at high speed firing off a few shots as he passed close, he was doing a bit of damage but nothing major, I think he might have been a vagabond pilot as he was flying it like you'd fly one of those. Eventually after third or fourth pass I managed to get him webbed plus warp scrammed, he was pretty screwed from this point on. I turned my autocannons on and they were chewing into him. He was deep in armor and I still had about 30% of my shields left when he's ecm drones managed to jam me, I thought he was going to get back to range and resume dive bombing me but to my surprise he warped away from the fight.
I think it would have gone better for him if he'd just flown straight at me and blasted away at point blank instead of trying to be tricky, maybe he was worried about facing off against high damage ammo but I don't usually carry Hail ammo with me. Being in an assault frig probably helped me too as I had nice shield resists and high damage (3 gyro II's fitted iirc), if I was in my stiletto it may have been another story (but then I'd be faster then him).
