I just picked up a Hookbill and am looking for PVP/Plexing fits. I have about 3mill skill points and am better with missiles then guns, any help would be appreciated.

You're really better off with either assault ship. The Hawk particularly, since you have better missile skills.
Faction Frigates aren't totally inappropriate for PvP (although their 2/2 weapon setups are usually a step behind the top-tier frigate of that particular race, except for Gallente and the substandard Tristan), but lack any sort of cost-effectivenes. Go with an Assault Frigate. Fly faction only when you're trying to flaunt your ship's uniqueness within the gang (by being called primary the fastest.) |

The Tristan is anything but substandard, and the Navy Comet is like a Tristan Deluxe - FRIGANK |

If you're better at using Missiles, consider a Hawk (not that AFs are all that wonderful either)
I think the Succubus is a semi-decent faction frigate, though. I may not use one in PvP but it was always fun to go ratting in it.

CN Hookbill is a very difficult ship to focus on any one thing, fitting wise, which makes it very weak. It's a lossy vessel - you won't make enough money with it even over time to justify its cost. ---

The unforunate truth about the CN Hookbill is there is NOTHING it can do that the Merlin can't do for a fraction of the price. Sure, the CN Hookbill can sport the highest pure HP of any T1 frigate - at the end of the day it's still a frigate. Sure it can build a stout passive tank - so can the merlin.
The merlin has what amount to the same bonuses - extra range on the two gun slots and extra shield EHP (only it's in the form of resistances versus pure HP). The Merlin is also easier to fit thanks to it's increased powergrid.
Basically, the shortest version of this is there is not really much you can do with the 15 million isk (at least that's what mine cost ) CN Hookbill that is worth the price of admission. If you work very hard and more or less ignore that shield bonus you can make an adequate tackler that can at least deal some damage at point range, or you can make a super durable tackler that works for tackling battleships for awhile (unless they have a neut, then all you can do is orbit at 500 meters and hope for the best). Neither role is worth the investment unfortunately - which is really a shame because I think it's the best looking frigate in the Caldari lineup.

Well, interestingly enough the humble Kessie is actually better in many scenarios over the Hawk. It does more damage for 1/30 the cost for example (and that's one of the biggest crimes in the game in my book). Neither ship is much good for tackling (because if you want to tackle in either you give up any pretense of a tank).
Maybe in the mythical, post nano era there will be a good reason to use a Hawk, but as it stands now the only reason to use it is if you like using Frigates and want an extra durable and expensive one. |

Even after the nano patch the Hawk will still be the worst ship in the Caldari lineup. |

A Hookbill still qualifies as a T1 frigate, which can get past some gates that a T2 frigate can't pass; for faction warfare, this is an important note as its not all about just ganking the other guy.
Don't let the <insert bad word here> get you down.

The one thing a CN Hookbill can do is mount a very nice passive/buffer tank. Very handy for hauling small, valuable things. |

Hookbill is an awesome bait ship for pvp. For anything else, its somewhat useless im afraid. Mail me if you want the setup. Can achieve 13k shield hp with my current skills (Actual HP, NOT effective).

While I agree one can generate this kind of HP, I'm actually forced to wonder if it can be done on a setup that has any offensive potential whatsoever. Seems like you'd always end up either terminally shy on PG or CPU (or both).

He was talking about using it as a bait ship, which, implies it isn't used for offense.

Extender rigs > purger rigs when on the hookbill. Trust me on that. And replace a PDU with another MAPC. Will allow you to fit an extra medium extender. But as a previous poster said, you lose out on the damage. But lets be honest....its a hookbill. Not an astarte.
