Dear CCP I just hear that your fellow country man have to pay 3 times that what they payed last december. Many of us customers from abroad are hit too by financial crisis. But none are hit by a devaluating currency as you are. Please let us play with Icelandic people while you work hard on the game. I am sure many here understand that Iceland took many off the debts with highest risk. I am not saying they did that right. There were cashflows that benefitted from that. How they interpreted that is not to me. I like to play with my buddies. Also those from Iceland. So my kind request is charge them less. Those that want to and have to will be happy with that I hope. Don't let them slide into a world without Eve. There where the hope for a Yar is gone. Let them stay in the game and Yar with us. And you made me your humble Minmatar Ricco Lonestar a happy man.

yo, i am icelandic, and i must say that the condition in iceland is really bad,
in december last year, it costed about 1200-1300 icelandic Kr=nur to play eve per month (1 account) and now when i checked it costs about 3400 icelandic Kr=nur, i bought my fan fest ticket for about 6150 icelandic kr=nur, and now it costs about 8300 kr=nur,
there are couple of reasons why this is happening in iceland
1 of them is that the banks here in iceland were giving out 100% house-loan for ppl that are buying houses, and many ppl did that, and then there was no money left in the bank, and then people cant pay back the loan.
many ppl here have lost their houses becouse of this and i have a friend that was with me in school that bought a new car this summer, with a 100% car-loan from the bank, and he had to pay about 30.000 kr=nur per month, and when our currency fell down, then he had to quit school so he could work more so he could pay off his car, and now he has to pay about 95.000 kr=nur per month.
People have been rushing to the stores these days to buy food and such for the winter before it get worse, and many poor familys have to freeze food for the winter,
we had the opertunity to take up the Euro in stad of the icelandic Kr=nur currency earlyer this year, but the man that runs the prime-bank in iceland "Se=labanki" did not want too, if we would have taken up the Euro Currency then we would not have this much problem, petrol prices hve gone alot up! 1 Liter of petrol kosts about 200 kr.
1000 icelandic kr=nur = 6.61 Euros

I hope you will remember at the next election those nice local politicans who gave your money away to some private bank instead of saving it or investing the money into infrastructure and similar long lasting projects.
But a general question is if and how CCP is affected by that financial crisis. They get a solid and steady income from subscriptions and this should be good money. But I assume that, as any other business, they have debts somewhere.
Let's hope that CCP is not affected badly!

life on credit is a bullsh1t and we have a living proof right here. i know that whole panic in america is just a exaggeration (yeah, it's not uber but still, we can make it), generated to buyout ppls property cheap by greedy-mob of bankers, but com'on... it's complete irresponsible to take a credit or give one to someone who cant pay it off.
gj, bankers.

Um... Was the loan from a foreign bank? Normally one takes out a loan in local currency and the amount paid doesn't change. Taking out a loan in foreign currency would be equivalent to a bet that currency will change in your favor. Sounds like this guy lost. If you have a mortgage, for example, then inflation is good for you because you pay it back with less valuable money.

Benzmann isn't right when he blames the banks for the 100% housing loans, it has little to nothing to do with that.
Reason for this all started with the financial crisis that's going on in the world, Iceland just got hit harder then the others because our banks grew too large for the Icelandic economy. Because of the lack of trust that rules the markets now Icelandic banks, like other banks all over the world, can't get loans to refinance themselves and keep going. The Icelandic people that took out 100% loans to buy new cars and TV's are just plain stupid.
The reason for the fall of the ISK ( Icelandic Krona ) is because banks around the world didn't want to loan Icelandic banks and therefor we have almost no foreign currency left.
This results in many of the Icelandic players ( including myself ) have to cancel their accounts because it now costs me 3-4 times more to play then it does for the rest of the world.
I love this game, I've been playing since early 2005 and I hate to leave the game on these terms.
I hope this situation is just temporary and I can renew my subscription before the end of the year.
Why was this posted on CAOD btw? Because of that I have to use my stupid alt to reply due to corp policy.

Im from iceland , and dont think we need any special care. just by timecards with ingame money.
But ccp can give me a free fanfest ticket tho, havent bought mine yet so....... :)
But whats heppening in iceland is the fault of greedy people that owned the banks. And all the people who took a risk with them investing their money in the banks and other things are just paying the price. Too bad it effects all the puplic at the same time.
