What happens next?
I raced my two transports. One with three warp speed rigs on one without. One about 7au warp speed one 3. Aligned them both to a star gate. And warped the squad of two to the gate. Only to watch them both fly a beautifully synchronized flight to the gate (normally quiet a satisfying sight especially with a good sized fleet)
So my first reaction is i've been robbed the rigs are duds. But on thought there could quiet easly be some sort of fleet dynamic going on?
Any one know? i'm going to take a look at it after down time. And hoping to find that the fleet warps at the speed of the fleet warp leader ship.

If you are in the same warp bubble (read, can see the people you are warping with), then ALL the ships go at the same speed as the SLOWEST ship in the bubble. Even a speedy interceptor (which goes at 13.5AU/s warp speed) will be slowed to 3AU/s if it's in the same warp bubble as a battleship.
It allows the entire fleet to warp and arrive at the same time. It means your fast tacklers don't arrive by themselves and are cut to pieces before the heavy hitters arrive.

Yes: fleet-warp travels at slowest members speed.

Nope, won't happen.

I believe that if you fleet warp, all fleet members travel at the speed of the slowest member, regardless of whether or not they are in the same warp bubble. I will test it later today by having one BS aligned and at full speed and a frigate moving at full speed in the opposite direction and then initiate fleet warp. __________________________________

WTB: transport with 3x rig slots.

Understandable. But a shame that the lead ship doesn't set the warp bubble speed. Would be nice dynamic for travelling around new eden. And encourage large fleet warps with in empire. Nice for the goods haulers

Sorry indys. But they transport my stuff!
From what i've already experianced i would say that in fleet warp whether they are on screen together or not they travel at the same speed. As was hoping to catch an in warp over take but never did. Now i know why

Check out the warp speed of Blockade runners. They're ace for moving stuff around fast - put a couple of agility rigs on them and you basically have an interceptor with a 3750m^3 cargo bay.

Exactly Industrial can be exciting too and i think with a tweek on the fleet warp dynamic. it would be a real lift to part of the game. And i don't see how it would unbalance or hurt the game.
gona move this to the ideas and feactures forum

Yah, wouldn't it be great if all the ships just magically got faster warp speeds? common sense would dictate that you can only go as fast as the slowest member.

Nope, can't think of any problems with Titans and freighters warping as fast as interceptors.
Allowing BS gangs to travel around at inty speed seems fine too, it's not as though CCP are already looking to nerf speed or anything. sXe |

How would letting (with some effort) the bs travel at the same warp speed be a big issue?
The fact is that your not going to get packs of ravens hunting down a single crow. Because alignment and reacting warp speed is gona take as long as ever. Under my proposal.
I'm talking about a new level of warp travel. And using learnt skills to shorten time spent in warp mainly for the benfit of moving goods around. And time i the RW
In any normal world this would be a concept that would be greeted with a yes please. Instead of the don't rock my boat i've spent months getting comfy attitude i'm getting here.

I don't know if you know, but Freighters warp at 0.6 au/sec
They take nearly 3 minutes to traverse a 100au warp.
This would reduce that to about 15 seconds.
