In the days before the war, we never would have imagined we would be fighting our own people. To call it a war now seems ridiculous almost. But then, it seemed like a war was coming. A corporation that should have been friendly, or at the very least neutral, war dec's us for ransom. We didn't know what we were dealing with. They were Minmatar! They were Anti-pirate! They were ex-Militia! Maybe they suffered from something similar to Jovian disease? Maybe they were booster fiends, down on their luck? Maybe there was something more sinister behind it. A few of our tribe members left during this time. Michelle Raul had just left after the death of her brother Sean. Now, Matarian Bloodlust and Dominikov were leaving as well. People were nervous and tense.
With war dawning, our special agents went to work. While I was reporting HeXstoofs crimes to the Intergalactic Summit, our best agent prepared to come in from the cold. First, tried applying to enemy corp. Worth a shot. App turned down, so a new Stealth Bomber added to the tribe :) I docked in their HQ, but the only one there didn't want to talk to me. Can't imagine why.
Concord Sanctioned engagement begins. We have info on all of their members and have contacted the Minmatar ones in an effort to understand such delusion actions. No response. I wonder how much influence the few Caldari members in the shadows have. I begin to hope they are just booster who fiends that can be helped with rehab, and not part of a Caldari plot to weaken the Republic from within. So we find the Ceo and another member very easily. Or rather, we find their system. They hide in deadspace after deadspace are or dock in stations forever. Very frustrating. We try to bait him on local channels, and are successful, he talks. Then is sorry he did, and stops. They jumped one of our members newer to combat, and I warp in just in time to see the second one pop him and leave as the rest of the fleet warps in. The first had already left. Pilot unharmed, only a destroyer lost. We have spares. Scared one of them away in a destroyer :p They must have gone to sleep after that.
Later that night, another member became active. We were close by and mobilized a large fleet quick enough to pin him in the station. Boring. He wouldn't come out. Wouldn't talk on any of the local channels. Just cower in the station for hours. Our fleet became trigger happy and started play fighting with each other. It was nice. A good bonding experience, good training, and it was nice to see the morale of the troops :) Hours later we know he went to sleep. The majority of the fleet left. When were informed when he awoke, but didn't mobilze.
He undocked.
The three remaining ships engaged and we set course to intercept. Two of the three were popped, but again, the pilots were fine, and one was back in a new ship when the fleet arrived with the other arriving a moment later. He was back inside. And didn't come out again. So a war, but the silliest war I've ever heard of.
I am proud of my tribe today, on the first day of war it didn't ask for, and against an enemy we had no reason to fight beyond their own cowardice. I still hold out the possibility that there may be State influence behind this, but regardless of wether the Minmatar in their corp are in charge or merely puppets, it is obvious they are bully's who are so weak they prey on allied high-sec corps. Pathetic, whatever the motivation.
I've been hyped on adrenaline all day, and in my pod for way to long. Going to grab a quick shower. Our agents have them under tabs, and our fleet has been running round the clock ops for weeks, so I should even be able to get some sleep :)

I have yet to hear of a corporation who makes their living out of ransom war decs in high security and can actually hold their ground when meeting a force that actually wants to fight them.
I am sure those exist, but my experience in "griefing the griefers" has not yet revealed one.
Good work.

As Ms Rhiannon says, that is usually the way of it. In my experience, there actually have been a few of these sorts of corporations that would stand up to a real fight. They are vastly outnumbered, however, but the incompetents. |

Cowardice like your enemys show should get a "reward". And this should be paid out in loss of standing. Corporate and personal standing for each member. And this loss should deny the ability to declare war under a certain level.
Who declares war should show action. That's the way war goes, not like that.
By the way, good spirit, Starsparrow! You can use scan-probes to hunt them down in their deadspaces, by the way, but I'm shure you tried this already. Not that easy sometimes...

well, its an interesting experience to say the least, waking up covered in thick goo, your body twitching in reaction to a fatal explosion which happened light years away.
I guess it was my fault... I didn't count on the bravery and dedication of my foe.
I awoke at the base, knowing that my time was my own for a bit I decided to get on with some chores I had been putting off because of the demands of the war effort.
Undocking from the station I noticed that there was two of the enemy carousing outside... I'm pretty sure they weren't setting a trap, not for me, not for my liitle scout ship. Anyway they were there, I saw them hanging around in their bloated, bristling, whales. Ah, I thought, good at least they wont want to take me on in those... I mean, my little rifter would probably be too small to even see on that 500" plasma screen those kind of ships have (mainly I believe for watching repeats of the magic round-a-bout, but sometimes pushed in to service as a targetting screen), and with all those guns to choose from it would probably take them a day and half to just decide which one to fire, they are probably more nervous of what I would do; would I fly in to one of their exhausts whilst buzzing round them? would i crash in to the mid porthole, destroying utterly the cream cake vending machine?
Amidst this cozy feeling of safety I suddenly remembered that I'd left my cat in stasis over in Hek... and the bill was overdue. With this uppermost in my mind I scarpered quickly to the stargate. Well I made that one ok, and whilst warping to the next gate, the last to Hek, I decided to have one those horrible instant bacon sandwiches from the on-board dispensor (I was starving after having slept for too long), by a typical stroke of bad luck the machine broke down, I could smell burning and knew that, again, the timer was borked. Never mind, I was still in warp, I had time. I went back to sort out the machine, I was only gone a few seconds when I felt the ship fall out of warp... damn... oh well, I couldnt let the last of my rations burn away to nothing, so I persisted in my task... just a tiny short while later I felt the whole ship lurch... uh oh, thats not good... again and again it rocked, alarms shrieked and the cabin filled with red light, I could hear systems shutting down all over the place. I had time for one bite of sandwich, had time to tap one last command in to the controls, before the ship disintegrated around me and I heard the calm unnatural voice of the pods AI telling me I was now running on emergency pod power, operating under pod thrust.
I took the time to look out the porthole and see what had happened... and guess what! Who would have thought that my enemy would have overcome their fear of my little wasp, convince themselves that the sting I had couldn't possibly penetrate their elephantine hides, that their lumbering gait might actually serve them adequately. Well they had, there they were, and they seemed to have sorted out the problem of which gun to use... they had just selected all of them.
Oh, well, I thought, war is war it was stupid to leave the controls really. I was in the middle of deciding whether the bite of sandwich had been worth it (in retrospect, I think not) and looking for the key that would take my poor battered pod through the stargate when I noticed a streak come from one of my tormentors .... surely not I thought, but yes, there was no mistaking what it was... in the rational part of my mind I knew it was ok (my data and dna was stored, my insurance was paid up, and I had selected a funky set of genetic modifications from the clone catalogue), but the primal part of my mind overode it and I screamed.
So here I am, looking for cheap implants, and arguing with insurance salesmen (the real pirates of the universe).

I shouldn't have slept. While I was dreaming about a strawberry-chocolate cheese cake to die for, I was awoken by the comm. Things have gone badly. The cowardly enemy has come out of hiding. I have received a mail from one of their member's claiming they were looking for a challenge. This as I scan the losses and notice they pod killed a rookie in a rifter. Another returned with 85% pod damage. That such vermin could be Minmatar still tugs at my soul.
The younger members have gotten very excited by the enemy's cowardice, and have become over-anxious. In my absence, they continued the offensive against Hex, which was not our plan. I can't blame them. They had just begun training for combat and have been bullied and threatened. They are reacting how I hoped they would, I just wish they showed a little more restraint. For now anyway :)
I really shouldn't have slept. 13 of our ships down now. Not a big deal to our builders really, but it does sting the pride none the less. We are in a much stronger position, and the longer this lasts the better we become. Our only weakness passes with time.
On a side note : Got news of Michelle Raul's death. After she left us there was a cloning accident. Both Sean and Michelle passed within a few weeks of each other. Our thoughts are with their mother's tribe.

Edited by: Kilette Dark on 01/10/2008 18:45:36 Impatient as always I am annoyed with the delay in the war DEC. My CEO assures me that its perfectly normal, and just because the vote has finished doesn't mean he can start the war straight away, and that even then it takes another 24 hours before combat can start.
I know the vote was yes for the WAR but I'm unsure of the actual percentage, I pull up the result on my onboard and am supprised that its 100% for the war. Next to unheard of resently. I call my CEO again, and knowing my impatience maintains is willing to talk about it whilst we wait for the "bribe" to concord to become available. I inquire as to why the vote was unanimous this time, and he explains that they outnumber us 2 to 1, and most importantly they have yet to declare there allegiance to the Tribal liberation force.
There is a pause in which I bite my tongue and don't go into my normal tirade about how not declaring for the tribal force is effectively declaring against it. Oh I've heard all the arguments about support and supply being important, but unless they JOIN the tribal force they are just profiteering from our defense.
My CEO interrupts my thoughts and dorps a bomb shell. He tells us that we are pulling out of Faction war for the duration of the conflict. I cannot belive what I'm hearing. Leave the defense force? How can we do this when lives are at risk. He continues to explain that if we don't pull out, the war targets could just run to Ammar or Caldari space and we would be unable to follow them. This has happened to our corp before so the logic of it is undeniable, but it still leaves a bile taste in my throat, he continues to point out that faction war is a money sink, and unless we can get some sponsorship we have to pull out anyway.
He logs from his ship, then logs back to see if the system needs a reboot for the DEC to be made. It did. He makes the dec and we wait for a reply. Thats my favorite bit.
We don't need to wait long when we are separately contacted by two members of the target corp. We form a single chat with them, and quickly add them to our list of their members, a list now containing three names.
We know our names are available on the NET, so we generally invite any corp members online to join this type of chat, but with only my CEO and I online, its left to me. And so I'm allowed to make our demands, 5 payments of 50 million isk or one of 150 million, in exchange for our corp fighting alongside them, against anyone who WAR decs them in the next three months.
I hope that they are going to simply pay, but that hardly ever happens, but instead they simply claim to be too low in the corp to make that sort of desicion. I offer a NO POD policy for the war, and again they don't have the authority to accept this offer, we part telling them to get their CEO to mail before the war starts if they are going to accept.
******************
My ships systems wake me from my dormant phase and one by one the ships systems blink to life. The WAR started a few hours ago, and so I glance at the combat logs to see if any losses have occurred. No Kills, no losses.
I switch to local, WHAT!!!!! five war targets are in local, I have a flashing corp message so I switch to that channel, my CEO is outside, I'm not camped, so I undock and we start 3 hours of safe spot jumping. More and more war targets enter system, our list of their members grows until we are facing nine targets to our two. Its starting to get to unlog time, and the enemy is still untested, so we start to pair jump to gates, and on the third jump find a lone destroyer guarding the gate. We know the enemy have at least two mealstrom and three Bcs in system, but we are bored, and fed up with local being filled with calls for us to fight.
Most importantly though we need to test the enemies response time. We target the thrasher, and both open fire. A thrasher may be a good ship, but it cannot hope to defeat two cruisers, but before it even gets to hull, their ships start to arrive. I'm impressed, that was about as fast a response as could by hoped for from their view point, and as worse a responce to be hoped for from ours. MY CEO being right ontop of the thrasher has to warp out ASAP, but I'm still 70 km away, and no one has warped to my spot so I aline and wait as my last volleys manage to kill the target, and I leave..
I can tell my CEO is worried, that response time was amazing, but as we dock, we put a bravado face on things and go and "celebrate" our less than 1/3 Million isk kill. We each know the other is thinking that maybe we have bitten off more than we can chew

You hold your war against a small Matari corp higher than the struggle against the Amarr? Interesting. You're petty profiteers, not warriors. I can only presume that your tribesmen are disowning you this very moment.

We are Mitar. We are not Gallente, nor Caldari nor Amarr slave hounds. And our corps work on other ethics. I somehow understand what this corp is doing, but to draw out of war for money is how the things do not work here. The fight for freedom is our first duty. Not for the republic, not for the clan, not for the family or for the honour. It's important to throw back the Amarr slave hounds and free the systems they oppress.
Get your damn asses back to the front. We are not winning there, so ka? Sometimes we have good days but the enemy is not beaten yet. What makes me angry is the Amarr laughing and pointing their fingers at us when such things happen. We stand together, we do not force the other to the fight. Even if I support your enthusiasm in bringing more Minmatar to taste the beauty of exploding Amarr ships, the way is the wrong path.
I bring in people with the sword of the word not with a gun to the head. And this is how it goes. And if you suffer losses there is a Mitar compensation program that you can use. The loot is shared brotherly. You are not alone.
And if you really want to bring in corps with the gun, take a corp that can. This one is still very young. People cannot join even if they want to and I am impressed about their good spirit. They are real warriors and I would love to welcome them to our lines. But if they come, they come of free will, not of force. We are Mitar!
Because this is our way: Freedom; free will.
I suggest you stop this and get your asses back. And compensate the losses of this young corp, help them up a bit. I hope they will join soon, I think, cause a corp with a spirit like this will be a great help in this conflict.
And even if some of them prefer to mine and build ships, let them do. Cause if they do it good, we will have a good working economy. And this maybe is still the weak spot of our young republic. The economy lacks some good spirit. -- FREEDOM, PUNK & AUTOCANNONS |

Mr. "Three", I understand that many corporations have money as their objective and priority. This is true for many, such as the Caldari. However, you will find that many Minmatar militia corporations only seek enough money to make ends meet; to ensure that the battle continues and the factories are kept running so we don't lose ground. This war is our priority, and our corporations (I speak atleast for the 17th) do not intend to fiscaly profit from any of this.
Please do not confuse us with such money-making corporations, our job and purpose is completely different. Popularity has nothing to do with it either.
Mr. Blue, you have no idea what you're talking about. Rotten apples? You must be refering to HeXstoof, or you are clearly a very lost Gallentean. Please don't meddle yourself in Matari affairs where you lack knowledge.
Clearly Starfish is an industrial corporation, not a para-military corporation like the 17th or many TLF members. The survival of people like Starfish ensures that we can continue doing our job, and the work of the TLF ensures that they can continue working in peace behind our borders. It's a symbiotic relationship, and without one the other will fail. HeXstoof is not reinforcing the work of the Republic Fleet, but only aiding the Amarr in the destruction of our economies.
People like HeXstoof, "brothers" who have sold their own kin to the highest bidder, are benefactors to our enslavement.
Does the Gallentean capsuleer program have this low of standards or did you just stop thinking when you graduated?

Day 3
My spirits are down today. We have suffered our first irreplaceable loss. A few of the younger crafts men, and almost the entire trade wing left our tribe today. They simply cannot stomache being hunted in their own space by their own people. I don't blame them. I wish them well. We have sent some of the others unwillingly away. I cannot let my anger endanger them. I am so proud of how the miners and builders took to combat training. It has even entered their world of play. Funny to watch pod pilots practice Karate on each other. Especially the Sebastior ones. Or rather, it would be funny, on any other day. It was a tearful parting, as family's were separated. At least we know they are safe. For now. getting word another trainee has been podkilled. My eyes are stinging. I lost some good friends today. I wish them well.

Edited by: Alica Wildfire on 02/10/2008 09:53:28 Everything in Mitar is about the fight for freedom. Even the economy, especially the economy.
For example: I did use cheap prices in Jita to destroy them there, fetch them and bring them down here to sell. Low prices in Minmatar: good thing. Cause it means all slavehound fighting capsuleers have an easier way of living, reduces the losses by cost.
Riftpiracy in the losec between zerosec and hisec of Minmatar: good thing. Why? The cheap ISK from bountyhunters that are not productive and therefore asocial can not float on our market and rise the prices. Every pirate that shots down traders to zerosec is a hero for our republic. Every pirate that is working on the borders of other republics is an enemy. Pirates that shot down local miners: enemy. Pirates that shot down Amarr miners: friend. Pirates that destroy zerosec bountyhunter battleships near Minmatar and stops easy ISK ratting: friend.
Every trader that is buying off the cheap stuff in great amount in enemy terrory and offers it here is good for us. May be our production will suffer but sometimes production is not so important as cheap prices.
In short: forbid cheap ISK to destroy our markets and empty our shelfs and you serve the war. Rise the prices at Amarr tradehubs if you can, destroy Jita. Do not shot on anybody, mark your targets.
If I set a cheap bid in our market I watch who is buying. If it's an enemy bigtime dealer I would contact a pircacy organisation and give them a pointer.
So the trick is easy: everyone that fills our shelfs is doing his duty. Every miner, that is serving the production of our local market is good for the war. Buy the cheap stuff everywhere and bring it to Mitar. Destroy Jita market and the hubs in Amarr, fill the shelfs in Rens.
Traders that do this, are warriors for the Republic.
Pirates that permit floating easy ISK our markets are heros. Destroy easy ISK bringers. Shoot them off the sky. Kill off everything that is not productive but brings ISK to the market, cause it will destroy the prices and empty our shelfs.
If I see a producer that throws Rifters on the market for 150k I say: that's a hero. Cause I can do myself for about 270k. And try to support local miners, give reasonable prices for ore and start production with good blueprints, sell in Rens, Pator, Hek. Don't sell in Jita. Don't serve the slavehound markets either.
Who says a trader can't be a warrior? Only a trader that does not know how to mark a target is nothing but a leaf in the wind. -- FREEDOM, PUNK & AUTOCANNONS |

Day 4
Yesterday was a hard day, but, as with most adversity, it has strengthened us. Those that have stayed have a renewed sense of purpose. The atmosphere is more business-like, more serious. I wanted to laugh yesterday when I saw the Sebastior practicing Karate on each other...some of them have gotten quite good at it :) I can only hope their pilot training is progressing as rapidly.
I have been watching one of our miners closely, rightly so. Today he came to me with a plan and showed me the work he has been doing (math, go figure). He has been promoted to fleet commander, and will be in charge of our military efforts. In his words "three weeks ago I was a lowly miner".
We have received communication from another of the enemy. The Ceo has still not responded to any mail, but we are cutting off all communication with them at this point. They all contradict each other and themselves, so it is worthless anyway.
Received an idea on Galnet from someone I respect immensely. Very good advice on economic warfare against the Amarr. We will definitely be putting this into practice when this unpleasantness is over.

I find my contempt for the lies and sheer hypocrisy of our foe growing almost on a daily basis, but it is the accusation of profiteering from Minmitar blood I find especially hard to stomach.
They say that by not 'signing up' to the Tribal Liberation Force we are not serving the Republic, do they, and all others who hold this view fail to recognise that the TLF is an integral part of the Republic, it is not separate, nor the whole of it, they are the warriors of the tribe, not the tribe itself. It is the Republic to which loyalty is owed and that loyalty is the same thing as loyalty to the TLF, the Parliament, the security force, and all the other entities that make up this 'tribe of tribes' we call the Republic; there can be no loyalty to different elements of the Republic. Even a cursory investigation in to our Corporation would reveal that we have always acted within the best interests of the Republic.
Conversely, signing your pilots and equipment up to be used in military actions when they are not ready is nothing short of gross negligence, untrained pilots panic and can cause more damage than the enemy. Everyone knows that training and skill will always outweigh sheer weight of numbers when the heat is on. As for the child like belief that a war is won on the strength of its pilots alone, or that a Nation can possibly survive the consequences and aftermath of any war without a strong economy, I can only shake my head.
What makes this so hard to stomach is not the ignorance with which such comments are made, but the perversity that they should come from a corporation who's own 'loyalty' has already been proven to be for sale. They quite cheerfully admit that they do not make any distinction between Minmatar and Amarr targets for their campaigns of 'resource gathering' or giving it its proper name, piracy. They also tell us - as vindication of their actions none the less - that they would have happily dropped their war against us if we gave them money and that by giving them money they would ally themselves with us for a set period of time. One member even says she hoped we actually paid up instead of fought; such is the strength of her convictions. Well personally I wouldn't want anyone fighting on my side who is likely to change sides as soon as a better offer is made. There is of course a term for this kind of group û mercenaries û, who are almost unilaterally known for their lack of loyalty beyond that which money can buy.
As self proclaimed mercenaries, Hexstoof have absolutely no grounds for raising questions of loyalty. As a matter of fact their mercenary nature calls in to question their whole involvement in the TLF, I find it most likely that it was not the noble cause of freeing our fellow Minmatar from slavery (they seem quite happy under other circumstance to oppress, destroy and steal from those of us who are already free), but the prospect of increasing their own personal wealth through loot and plunder. This reasoning is borne out by their own admission that when being part of the TLF interfered with their 'legalised' piracy and theft from weaker targets they just left; that and the fact that records of their actions against the real enemy are scant to say the least. Whilst we are on that point the fact that they persecuted other Minmatar to the point where they were, or felt, safer amongst those who would enslave them than they were in the heartlands of their own people is inexcusable and traitorous; how many more of our people are the TLF now going to have to save because of their actions? |

I struggle to think of a way in which our Aggressors could do more damage to the Minmatar people. They war with the very people they claim to stand up for, denying the Republic materials, and pilots, disrupting training schemes by forcing pilots to acclimatise to new grown bodies and recover from the shock of body-loss. The less obvious negative affects of their actions is perhaps more damaging than the obvious physical ones. Within the Republic the tolerations of this behaviour erodes our core values and undermines our ancestral, tribal heritage. Outside the Republic they damage the perception of the Minmatar as a people, it is no wonder that we are considered a 'race of savages' when this is the behaviour that can be observed in our own 'back yard.'
I will not believe that they are doing this - the very same work that was once carried out by the Amarr collaborators within our recent history - under the willing influence of our enemies (although I have to question that belief when I consider how active the Amarr 'intelligence' and 'information' sects must be within our territory during this time of war), and can only thank our ancestors that the people in charge of the Republic including our highly regarded TLF have a better understanding of the way our 'great tribe' has to function; a better understanding of what it means to be Minmatar.
It is for the benefit of the Republic that we continue to take a stand against Hexstoof, despite the fact that we are ill-equipped and ill-trained for this sort of action.

Who knew war was so much like business with all the paperwork, and meetings, and conference calls. I thought the attitude around here yesterday was business-like. But, there's work to do. Going to take the longest sonic shower you can possible imagine.

Day 6
Woke up to very good news. Some of our miners were operating in-system like they sometimes do when the enemy ceo and his lackeye jumped in and tried to intimidate them. They docked and were camped in station a bit (changing ships) while the rest of the available tribe gathered. They recieved intel station was clear and they undocked, rendezvoused with the fleet. We heard through the grapevine one of them was at a gate, and our fleet warped right on top of him. He jumped and ran. Their Ceo then came to visit, and the fleet and was treated to the sight of the enemy ceo running from a Vigil and Rifter They almost got him too. Don't come between a Minmatar miner and his ore (Funny, we do have a few Galente's who have joined our tribe, but they are Minmatar in my mind)
The day continued to get better for us. When I woke up, we were being scouted. Seemed like they were asleep at the helm, or just watching, so we went about our business. I undocked and left system with a few others. Two of them in our system, and another not far. We roused up who we could and engaged. Lost a couple frigates. But scared them and they docked. We camped station for a few minutes, then moved on. Then we heard through the grapevine the other was on the way and we decided to be the welcome wagon We have our first true combat victory today. And our first confirmed kills. 2 hurricanes, a raven, and a crow.
Well, tomorrow is another day.

Very good job guys. I'm gonna have to have a word with some of my pilots, cause they obviusly walked right into a trap. The choice of trying to bust a gatecamp with a raven, and with very little support is stupid (sorry C4LYP50) but very brave. :D. Personally I disagree with her choice, but I was not online at the time, so I could not give her orders not to.
Again Starfish, congrats with the kills, you deserve it after all the ships you lost.
About me running away from a vigil and a rifter... Again you leave out the most important facts, and I'm tired of you constantly making us look bad, There was a battleship, several battlecruisers and cruisers. A total of a 12-man fleet. The ship I was in at the time were not fitted or build for taking on much bigger fleet. But we were 3 people in my corp preparing a counter attack against the 12 of you at the time. But you all docked, and some logged off when we had 3 members online and you had 12.
I will not comment on the retreat you guys made, but stop making it sound like we are cowards. I do not know if this phrase works in english, but "Do not throw with rocks when you live in a house of glass".

Atedar, this shouldn't need to be said, but this is a Role Playing forum, as you have no interest in role playing you shouldnt really be responding in here... and as it is a role playing forum you shouldn't take what is said here as an out of character attack on your corp, you are our characters enemies, of course they are going to paint you in the worst light possible.
I personally have used other means to let you know how I feel out of character about what you are doing, and I suggest we keep all such chat out of this forum... it doesn't belong here...
I would suggest finding a little more out about role play before posting here or taking offence, I would def. suggest reading the sticky post at the top of this forum about it.

Day 7
Strange day. Going over intel, and a strange picture emerges. One of their corp members has told us that their ceo took the corp from the founder by force. Not sure why they stay but it explains why some of them seem decent despite the blackmail attempt, and the rest are beneath contempt. When I awoke I got the overnight reports. Funny. Seems they were trying to pop another one of our miners (which was a trap this time) and they thought they could beat up on his thrasher escort. Well they did, but, when a few others warped in they left pretty fast. Apparently their Ceo was angry he was tricked. Odd.
Bad news in the afternoon, one of out trainees was attacked in a reaper. And then podded. Add two more kills to Hexstoof's total. A hound on a reaper, poor guy didn't stand a chance. Maybe they were angry about all the blueprints they lost at the hands of pirates that morning. We don't normally like pirates that much, but we'd like to buy those guys a drink.
In the evening, it seemed very quiet, so I took my new Hurricane out for the first time ever. On a shopping trip to get ammo for it. Stupid, I should have known better, but I got to the first gate, and jumped, and my comp when black, then everything went black. My crew (ty, ty) got power back quickly. The vid screens lit up, and there was the enemy. I don't know what he was doing, but we were already back on our route. he followed us 2 jumps but stopped short of where he thought our reinforcements were. good thing, cause when I got there, the missiles didn't fit :( Had to go 8 more to get ammo anyway. Finally made it home, and, now, I am going to bed :)

HAHA, man Sophie makes us look so bad :)
What is true is that i panicked and jumped through the gate i was on when the 12 man fleet Atedar mentioned warped on top of me. After the initial shock wore off i decided to see what would happened and just held my spot on the other side of the gate. no one followed, odd i though with the obvious number and ship superiority they had.
After a few mins of waiting a couple of corp mates logged on. This would be great i thought, the was enemy actually looking for a fight. But sadly only one of the members could stick around to fight.
Well it would have to do, the now 3 man fleet head back to stations to reequip and then head back to the system only to find their fleet has docked up or logged off. Another wasted evening. And all i was looking for was a good fight.
Regretfully my impatience for a fight got the better of me, and later when i logged back on I was messaged by the ill-fated C4LYP50. She mentioned their fleet was back on an looking for some violence. Quicker than i could think "battle tactics" i was jumping into their system with the gate camped. OOPS!
What followed was a short and bloody route as our small fleet failed about and died. Luckly I got my pod out and took a few of their smaller ships down with me. So not an entire one sided fight.
But it did give me hope, maybe this group will stick up and fight!
I headed back home to lick my wounds and hopefully think a little harder before rushing blindly into a trap :). Tomorrow is another day, and i'll have another ship and another chance to prove/redeem myself.

Woke up excited. 3 months and four days after enrolling in Pator Tech, I had a hurricane :)
The enemy was around, but they had been quiet, and I got a call from Oltrulf Wemer from Republic Fleet Security. Apparently, an Amarrian fleet was scouting the area, and I was to intercept them before their reinforcements could arrive. Perfect way to test my new ship. Reports said the area was clear of Hexstoof (or footsex as one of our manufacturers calls them), but I jumped one system out and the enemy ceo was there, again. Knowing this one was a coward and wouldn't attack even a noob one on one, I went through the next gate. I had already been warned that they were using other civilians to web, so was watching for it, but it didn't matter. The other psychotic one in the corp was there instantly. I couldn't warp, couldn't target and couldn't move. The ceo came through eventually. I was amazed my crew had held my ship together for so long. It did finally fall apart though, and when it did, with a tear for my crew, I tried to warp my pod. Webbed. Pod Killed.
I woke up deep in Galente space. I can't even think right now I am so angry. I had to tell Oltrulf I wasn't able to complete the mission. The first time I've ever had to let him down. An old friend contacted me. The only Amarrian I call friend. He had some slaves and was wondering how he could set them free. After talking for awhile, we came to an agreement. He was going to purchase slaves, slavers, and slave masters in Amarr space and ship them to us. The slaves we will set free, the others we will use for target practice ;)
On the way back, I was passing though the same system as Eran Mintar and we had a nice chat, and I had almost remembered why I became a pod pilot in the first place. He set standings to us so they didn't shoot us in Amarr space :) I admitted that we had already set our standings, and that we knew all about the exploits of the 17th anyway. I confess I was a little flushed. In the next system was a war target. The very next system. I knew he wouldn't attack me, he's only gone after the same trainee twice. No one else. And I wasn't going to find him cloaked. Not in this Rifter.
I was back in headquarters again when I got the news. Three times now. This brand new pilot has been blown up by the covert op ship, again. Lees than two months in space. He is leaving the corp. If he didn't go voluntarily, I would have kicked him. He can't be expected to deal with this so early.
I ended my day by trying to make it up to Oltrulf, and he sends me on a mission he's called "No Honor" in the very system I was pk'ed in that morning. Full Circle. When I got back, their ceo was waiting in system somewhere. I was too tired. Reported the mission complete and reviewed the logs, 90% of the pilots Hexstoof has ambushed were less than three months old. Most of our ship losses were pods and frigates. Pathetic. They think they are lucky to get away in their pods, when we are happy to let them fly pods. They are concerned with looking bad, and then they act like this. Beyond Pathetic. Perhaps the whole corp is deranged, not just the ceo and his lapdog.
As I write this, the coward who kept targeting the rookie is docking in my station. Three more of our tribe left us today, one more left space altogether. This one is responsible for at least one of those personally. I may have to do a little hunting before sleep.

Day 9
Quiet day for the most part. Woke up to a pile of work I ignored yesterday.
Was informed another 1 month old pilot in a Rifter was popped today. The rest of the day went by in a flurry of keystrokes until I got news that a 6 week old pilot had been popped in a Reaper.
I had a conversation with the one who did it after they attempted to talk a 5 week old pilot into a duel. It was one of the ones I had thought sane, but it is more clear to me now than ever that they are all deranged. They know no logic, no loyalty, no sense of honor, no sense of pride. They are not looking for a challenge. They are looking to prey on the best and brightest students, and don't like it when us inexperienced pilots fight back in numbers ;) They seek to maintain their superiority, not by getting better, but by trying to keep those around them weaker, not understanding that this itself is a weakness. And so they prey on people with less than 6 weeks in space.
Their only advantage is time that has passed. The problem with time is, it catches up to you. And it's only a matter of time before we do too.

This unwanted war reminds me of one of the stories my grandfather used to tell us when we were children.
Long ago, when the tribes were still seperate, there was a tribe called the Kabiator; this tribe had many warriors, which was good, for their enemies were numerous, chief among them being the Koratar.
The Kabiator were brought word by a travelling merchant that the Korator were amassing an army to bring war and destruction to them. Praising this merchant for his timely arrival and invaluable information the tribe called their warriors forth.
Among the warriors was a man called Akedar.
The tribes met many miles from either of their homes and battle swiftly ensued; for days the warriors waged war. The fighting dragged on for a week, then two, neither side able to gain the upper hand.
On the second day of fighting Akedar was wounded, his injury was serious but he healed. Despite his recovery Akedar seemed unwilling to fight the enemy, perhaps it was fear, perhaps his injury broke his spirit somehow.
The war leaders sent Akedar home to see to re-inforcing the army, word had spread that the Korator were doing similar.
Upon returning home Akedar found that the young warriors were eager to join the warriors, they begged him to teach them all he knew so they would be ready to fight.
Akedar however did not teach them, he feared returning to the fight, and was envious of the courage and determination he saw in them, a courage and determination he himself no longer felt. Instead he refused them "The only way to be a warrior is to prove yourself in combat" he said "therefore I will challenge each and every one of you, one at a time, those who fail to beat me will surrender up their weapons and return in shame to their familes. Those who defeat me I shall lead to glory." For the good of the tribe did he proclaim to make this challenge, yet fear and envy were his real motivations, he knew that with his experience and training, his fine sword and heavy goa skin shield, not one could hope to best him.
For months the young warriors threw themselves at Akedar, each one failing, each one having to surrender their weapons, the very weapons created to fight for the survival of the tribe. Little by little the young ones spirits were broken, until, after several weeks, only a handful could face trying again. Eventually none came, they returned to their families broken and disheartened, shame burning in their bellies.
Akedar of course lived a life of luxury, trading on the weapons and armour he collected from the young, he lacked for very little, and had the finest of everything. D.

Edited by: Daevonar on 08/10/2008 18:41:17 One day a message came for Akedar, from the war leaders still holding off the Korator, they needed re-inforcements, and they needed them now. The Korator were in bad shape, they had been forced to bring every child over the age of 12 to the battle. But the Kabiator were also in bad shape, they could not defeat the Korator forces with their few survivors, they knew it, but their children had shown great promise when they left and with but the best of them they could destroy their foe for good.
Akedar did what he could, he took the few weapons he had not sold and gave them to the stongest, if not the bravest.
The young ones had abandoned their training of course, and were not prepared for entering the war, yet still Akedar dared not do his duty and he took them, slowly, for his fear still mastered him, to the battlegrounds.
Akedar efforts were wasted however, he had taken so long that he found the Kabiator all but destroyed. He arrived just in time to have the enemy charge him. Remembering his courage at the last he called to the young warriors, calling battle orders and formations. But his words fell on deaf ears. The young had not been taught the meaning of his cries; and their courage had been sapped by his constant belittling of them, they looked around in wild fear, and panicked, they were cut down in minutes by the children of the enemy, who despite their younger years had been given the chance to train and had retained the weapons given to them by their families.
Finally Akedar stood alone, he was still a warrior, and he fought for his life, the one thing he still cared about. Eventually he was worn down by exhaustion, and at that point the Korator tribe leader approached him. "Akedar" he cried "it seems I owe you this victory, I have had word of your actions, indeed many of the weapons you see in the hands of my children were purchased from you by our traders." "Then perhaps you will spare me" cried Akedar. "I'm afraid not, the tibe leader replied, my children are stong, and I certainly have no use for a man such as you."
Without another word the Korator leader turned his back and walked away. Akedar was left in the wilderness, with no tribe, no family; nothing for company but the scavengers, who had been gathering for weeks to feed on the dead.
It is said he was finally killed by a lowly bouarek, being too weak with sickness from having to feed on the bodies like the rest of the scavengers to be able to defend himself from its pointed tusks.
It would appear our agressors have never heard this tale before and I am saddened that they had no one to teach them wisdom whilst growing up.
I am humbled to have known such a wise man as my Grandfather. This is the strength our tribal heritage gives us, I only hope we can avoid the fate of Akedar and the Kabiatior and I can pass this wisdom on to the next generation of Matari children. D.
