Correction, welcome to today, when the Florida Supreme Court made it more or less official. He's got thirty days to hang the closed sign and dump out the cold coffee.

2) The issue in June was only a recommendation; a higher legal authority had to weigh in, and did so today. Read the linked PDF. (top post, second link)

Alright, I'm not going to argue with you. Point is, June's event was only a recommendation, and the FSB didn't decide until today. Therefore, he wasn't disbarred until today.

I believe that MD was calling Thompson a sucka, but I could be wrong.

It appears what we thought a few months ago was still only a slap on the wrist. Mr. Thompson was only restricted to be limited to submitting litigation with someone else signing off on it that was in good standing with the Bar. I bet no attorney at that time would have touched him with a 10 ft poll
But yes it seems to be official now *\O/*

Nah I was calling the OP a sucka.
They had already announced disbarment in June after dear old Jack threw a tantrum in the courtroom and proceeded to **** off the judge. What they hadn't done was decide for how long it would be.
Hence, we already knew he was disbarred. There were several multi-page threads announcing it that week from several very enthusiastic players.

Well technically he still has 48 states to work from. I'd like to see him make it a personal goal to get disbarred from as many as possible before he retires.

Copied (roughly) from Slashdot: As a general note, in order to sit on the Bar examination in another state, he would have to submit to a background check, which would reveal his permanent disbarment. From what other posters have stated, getting a permanent disbarment like that is essentially the kiss of death, and virtually no other bar will accept an application from someone so barred. Additionally, you're also legally obliged to state if you have any convictions or disbarments entered on your record. Lying about this (assuming he survived the exam and became a bar member) is generally an instant kick from the organization and some rather unpleasant fines on top of that.
So, assuming that Jack gets truly kicked to the curb, then he's probably not going to be spending much more time in court other than as a defendant....

Yeah, I had stated this in one of the older threads. His best bet is to go to another country and try to uptake law there. Either way, if he wants, he can pretty much continue his holy quest. All he needs to do is keep himself in the public eye and get some young conservative lawyers to continue his work in the court room, albeit hopefully without his past illegal indiscretions.
Non the less this still brought a smile to my face once again. Disbarment LMAO!!!

I suppose it's too much to hope that he'll give it up and I'll never hear from him again. Unfortunatly he's probly already accepted to another states bar by now. -- Distortion| Distortion 2 Preview |

Most excellent. now we can finally go about dealing with the more pressing matter... the question that the presidential election should really be all about...
should today become an international holiday... or the day when his chance for appeal passes by... or the day when that appeal is refused...
or even the day when Judge Dava Tunis upgraded the suggested 10 year disbarment to a lifetime disbarment with no leave to reapply.
it is a very difficult question, but it has to be asked.

Considering how strict the requirements are for lawyers to get onto a bar being disbarred from any state effectively puts an end to his job as a lawyer in the country. Though considering Jolly Jack's mental state im sure that wont stop him from atleast trying, after all, hes on a mission from god dont you know.
edit: Hell I doubt another country would take him as a lawyer. Disbarment is disbarment is disbarment, its like the black spot, it aint goin away. -------------------------------- To borrow a phrase:

Most civilized countries have the same strict bar requirements as the US does. I suspect that his application to the Law Society or Bar Council to practice law in Britain would be slightly hampered by having a permanent disbarment against his name, American or otherwise. ------
