If you really feel like using that fit do the following.
1. Swap the RCU II for a MAPC 2. Swap the T2 Neuts for best named.
No implants needed. |

Edited by: Rajere on 21/09/2008 18:55:14 i weep everytime I see someone put an RCII on a frigate. Actually I just assume they ebayed their character or GTC'd up enough ISK to buy the character.
If you have the sp to use RCIIs it means your character has been around for a while, Energy Grid Upgrades V is not something newbies train. Anyone who's ever actually fitted a frigate knows that you fit MAPCs. The only other explanation is eft Warriors who've never flown the ship they're posting "one and only" fits for.

MAPCs are expensive compared to RC units. If you only need a little PG boost RC units are cost effective way to go. MAPCs are frequently overpriced overkill.
^^ I haven't flown a frigate with an RCII or MAP in over a year and my good PC is busted atm so I can't get on to check prices. As such, the above may be inaccurate if prices have greatly changed.

Really? Wow. I haven't seen them since Invention came out. I guess prices have really come down for them. The IIs used to be in the multi-millions.

You mean the Reactor Control IIs? yeah T2 modules are cheap now, so yeah RCIIs are cheap now, 1-1.5mil each. The MAPC is a tech 1 item, hell it may even be sold from the NPC market too, and has always been dirt cheap. Varies by region of course, if you're out in the boonies and no one is supplying them then I'm sure ppl could charge whatever they wanted for them.
The OP's fit is just bad, it's not horrible, but it's got the markings of someone who lacks experience flying them or someone just messing around in EFT.
You don't need a CPU implant to fit it, not even if your electronics skill was at 1. It's not cap stable at all even burning your cap boosters non-stop, of which you can only hold 16 in your cargo and 1 in the injector, leaving you barely any room to hold your scripts. This means fitting 3 neuts is useless since you can never run that many. It even needs to burn cap boosters to run mwd and TD's only, forgoing everything else, which is bad. Can only MWD and run a single TD when you're out of boosters, 1 TD is good but not great, not really helping your gang that much. You also suggest an alternative is dropping a TD for a SB? never do this. If anything drop the cap injector.
It sacrifices speed for a sar and fitting mod when you don't need either, sar would only be useful for patching up after a fight, it's not going to keep you alive during one, where as you wouldn't need the rep that often if you weren't slower than tech 1 cruisers to begin with. Also 7/5 drone layout, why? You only have 20m3 drone bandwidth, that's 3 flights of 4 light drones. How to Fail at Eve

Edited by: Merin Ryskin on 23/09/2008 09:16:13 The words "Sentinel" and "fleet" do not belong in the same sentence. Bring a ship that's actually useful. If you want to kill frigates, bring a destroyer, if you want ewar, bring a Blackbird/Falcon.
And since I know I'll get the usual disagreement, before you post "OMG MERIN IS TROLL!!!!", please, tell me exactly what the role of a Sentinel in a fleet is and how it fills that role better than the alternatives.

No it isn't. That would fall under the "ewar" role, and it fails for two reasons:
1) The Arbitrator gets the same 5%/level strength bonus, and has more mid slots for TDs (no cap booster needed). Even the Pilgrim, as lame as it is, does this job better.
2) TDs are worse than ECM in fleet fights. A Blackbird will do the job of shutting down hostile targets much better than the Sentinel setup you posted, and that's not even considering the upgrade to a Falcon or Scorpion.

I was once TDed in a fleet fight. The punch line is - I was flying a Curse :) That guy in the Piligrim got so desperate to get into a kill, so he TDed the drone/missile boat :D
As for Sentinel - Lows are for speed, meds go MWD - Disruptor - TD - Cap Booster, Highs are for neuts.
It can solo a Ranis or a Sabre (not an easy fit for a nano-frigate) - since it shuts MWD of the poor sod dead with 1 round of neuts(several for Sabre so be careful) and TD makes blasters/ACs stupidly short ranged. In the worst case - the target will eventually kill all your drones and you will be forced to disengage, but you will not die that likely to frigate/hulls. Crow is an exception :)
But it is a fun solo ship, fleet ship. ------------------------------------------ All nerfs are meant to hurt you personally. They will be nerfing you directly next.
