The Khanid Bookstore has published its monthly results on its website here (igb compatible.
The results show a good if not spectacular month. The main results are (with in brackets the results for the Parses franchise): Sales Volume (pieces): 2089 (120) Turnover (millions): 812 (5) ASP (ISK) 388,878: (45,626) EPS (ISK): 105,247
The figures show a very solid, but not spectacular month for the Khanid Bookstore. While volume was not quite at the level we had hoped for, the turnover was much better than expected due to a rising demand in some of the more expensive skillbooks. However, a high turnover is not the goal of the Bookstore. So we will continue our efforts to get permission to sell more books in Khanid. The negotiations are not proceeding quite as smoothly as we had hoped for, but we hope that somewhere during the coming month they will be concluded successfully.
What is remarkable when looking at the figures is that the type of book being sold has changed radically. Where in previous months the bestsellers came from the Industry and Mining department (with exception of the Rockets skillbooks that were the focus of speculative buying), now the list is almost completely combat oriented with Destroyers, Drones, Target Navigation prediction and Cruise Missiles topping the list. We must conclude, with regret, that Khanid Kingdom is not quite that far removed from the Faction wars that broke out some time ago.
What the figures also show is that so far the Parses franchise is not very successfull. We are a bit at a loss of the reasons for this. We will try to improve our offering there, and we are committed to at least one more month there but at the start of the next quarter we will have to decide on its future.
Increased competition At the very start of this month we have noticed a major increase in the competition. Earlier, this took the form of increased sales where competitors were buying up our stocks and reselling them at a far higher price, now they have changed their tactics by offering books at a price marginallly lower than ours. Since this will mean even beter access to education in Khanid Kingdom, we can only welcome this development. However, we are not in a position to change our pricing strategy since we firmly believe it to be the correct one in the long term. As a consequence, we must expect far lower sales in the coming month. We are closely monitoring developments, and our current expected figures for September are: Sales Volume (pieces): 1500 Turnover (millions): 500 ASP (ISK) 350,00
However, these may prove to be on the optimistic side.
Going into a new challenging period, we are confident that the Khanid Bookstore will weather also this attack!

Firstly, I applaud both your vision and your ability to carry through.
Have you given any thought to expanding into other regions that have less access to the items you sell? I am looking for good business investments to back for mutual benefit. please feel free to contact me via evemail or in the Daredevil's Lounge if you'd like to talk shop.

Does this mean your non-combat tomes will go on sale? Is there also a membership we can sign up for and receive discounts? I would also like to hear a bit more of your bookshops. Are, for example, refreshments for sale so that one, such as I, can leisurely browse the shelves whilst sipping a good strong coffee?

Dear TKB, Congratulations on another successful month.
I operate out of 0.0 space, and thus suffer from a deplorable lack of the commodities you offer, as do many of my alliance mates.
I was wondering if it is possible to buy "package deals" of books pre-selected by me and shipped to a pre-arranged location in hi-security (or low security, if you are amenable) space? I am also interested in whether you offer bulk sale discounts.
Yours, Vikarion --------

Thank you for your reactions. On the question of membership and refreshments, the answer is alas that that is not possible. On the request for bulk shipments, the answer is that that was not planned in our business model, but that I am very happy to consider that. Could you give an indication on roughly where you are so that I can see if I can reach that. Please contact me through Evemail. Given a serious enough quantity I will be happy to consider a discount on the sales price.
