i just wanted to make a post that had some relative meaning and ability to put players on a path to what they want to do. soooo pretty much people should lay out some good skill ladders to different positions such as mining corporate management gunnery and missile and trade. |

Are the new 'certifications' supposed to do just this?

Yeah, pretty much. A confirmation that you have the skills you say you do. ----------

Well, it does seem like a good idea to me, for new players. What I've heard of it, that is. New player comes into the game, has a hard time figuring out what he wants to do, much less what skills he needs to learn or train for in order to do it well.
Now, if he hears 'become a tackler', he can look up what is necessary for the 'Tackling Certificate' and there it is, written out. Skills A, B, C, D.
The whole 'certificate' part seems to frustrate a lot of players, though I don't know why. It seems a perfectly legit way to explain a horrendously complicated skill system that has far more depth than any game on the market that isn't on a tabletop
