Each one is better at tanking different DDs based on damage type, including tanking multiple back to back DDs assuming they were the same race. Before HICs, certain interdictors could be setup specifically for tanking a single DD of certain races. Most tanked ships can survive a single DD. NOTR How to Fail at Eve

Seleene logged off at a safe spot and got probed out before she disappeared... she logged back on and the dictor and some support was waiting for her. She set off the DD and the dictor survived. ET warped in the rest of his fleet and took down the (nano fit) Titan. IMO the whole thing was epic in planning and execution, and very unlucky for Seleene.
