Before I say anything else, I wasn't sure if I should put this post under ships and modules or the industry forums, if I put this post in the wrong forum, please let me know.
I recently have been looking around for a golem, but when I look them up on the market, they are listed at over 700 million! I thought the base price was supposed to be near 100 million. I'm now thinking of trying to build the ship, but I don't know if that is the better option or not. But I can't really do that anyway because I can't find any blueprints for sale. So, am I better off just buying the ship or do I build it? And also, where in EVE is the best place to get it (either the ship or the blueprints)? -------------------------------------------- "I don't mind being called a liar when I'm about to lie, when I lying, or just finished lying, but not when I'm telling the truth!" - Homer Simpson |

For a T2 ship the base price isn't exactly related to the market value, so 700m isn't that odd.

Mate, T2 ships are actually worth several times their "base" price.
700mil for one is about average I think, and don't think about building one unless you are prepared to spend a LOT of time down the industry route or you may end up spending a lot more than that to get the Golem.
Furthermore, please make sure you have the skills to fly one, your post suggests to me that you lack the basic skills to do so. If you can indeed fly one but lack the market/industry knowledge, than I apologise, but there have been a lot of threads from newbies asking about where to buy/build etc carriers and the like. T2 battleships require just as much training as capital ships as far as I know.
As for the blueprint, you wont ever find a BPO for it, the best you are likely to find is a BPC in a contract, but chances are someone will try to make you pay through the nose for that too.
The easiest way to do it is to learn a LOT of industry skills to a high level, get a Raven BPO from an NPC (will still cost you around 500 mil or so, haven't checked lately), and research/invent your heart out, and hope your efforts come to fruition with the creation of a Golem BPC. Then build the Golem from that.
Either way, the path to a T2 battleship is long and expensive, though if you put time in you can mitigte the cost somewhat.
Fly safe.

Edited by: Wil Smithx on 28/08/2008 12:35:06 Base price doesn't include invention costs or massive T2 material prices.
700mill is a good price, you will be harded pushed to build it cheaper in a timeframe small enough that you couldn't make up the difference running missions.
So... just buy it tbh.
Edit: to the guy whoo just posted, I believe a raven bpo is like 800-1000 million. It is definately more than a golem.

to build it you need battleship construction lvl 4... what i doubt you have and allso you would be paying for around 700m anyways ---------------------------------- Fighting for Minmatar o7 Yes... this is my main. Extreme Troll Slayer...

Crazed,
First the Golem is a T2 ship. Meaning you just can't buy a bpc, you must invent it (or buy it on contract-which will be just as expensive). Invention is also an expensive and very time consuming process, so if you are not already doing invention then it will cost you far more than if you just buy the ship (not to mention time required to get the skills to invent). Be sure you have the proper skills not just to fly the ship but to be able to outfit it properly. A T2 ship is a terible thing to waste (and did I mention expensive?)
Fly Safe.
