In the Empyrean Age trailer(the most recent)jump to 1:34 and watch what the Abaddon ship fires, what is that? some sort of chain reaction weapon?

Its the CCPNerf weapon - once fired it starts a chain reaction of fail. In that particular scene you had the nanonerf ammo loaded in that weapon - hence it wiping out the Minmatar ships.
You're welcome. __________________________________________________ Sup brosef! Destry's Lounge is looking for a few good drunks - contact me in game.

this is so true they made a big mistake when they switched from a wooden bat to subspace tearing, universe ending, cascading failure that is their current Nerf device.

It is a storyline weapon that turns shields in a weapon against ship that uses the shield. It is ancient terran design.

thank you all very much for the reply.
Now can someone tell me if such a weapon is capable of being obtained in EVE?

I never understood why armour tanked ships bother having shields at all, seems like a waste of space that could be used for more doom.

as long as they are 5 times as fast as everyone else, unscrammable, and unwebbable, then sure. =P

Hardly what I said if you read it properly. Wouldn't you like it more if your typhoon could have an extra damage mod or med slot or something other than a shield buffer that dies fast and wont recharge?
I meant it more as give people a choice to fit a shield or not. I mean why on earth would an abaddon have a shield?! Why do the amarr even bother putting one in the ship?

From a gameplay standpoint it makes little sense to have a shield on a armor tanked ship, other than a little bit of extra buffer. However from a RP standpoint a shield is necessary to protect you and your crew from radiation, also it will protect the armor from taking damage from meteorites, this wouldn't be a problem once or twice but fly the same ship for a prolonged time and the armor would be weakened by constant bombardments of meteorites. Where as if one hits the shield, it will be deflected/absorbed the shield will regen and no damage would be dealt to the ship.

It's actually a giant ball of of rubbing alcohol that dissolves the adhesive on the duct tape that's used as a primary load bearing aparatus on mimitar ships.

I was kinda thinking about this from an RP standpoint myself tbh.
About the radiation...
Humans in space atm as in rl, do not have shields...
Also our ships do not have crews and the pods we are all in have their own shields.
And considering that all ships have anti-bump deflecters, meteorites aren't an issue.

"Why have shields on an armor tanked ship" you ask, well a ship isn't armor tanked until you armor tank it, is it. And yes you actually DO have a choice even though armor tanking might at first glance seem obvious for some ships. I would uninstall EVE immediately if I couldn't armor tank my ravens anymore - gasp all you want but it's very doable in some situations. --- RBJ |

They could add some reason in the lore, whether it be to enter a planets atmosphere or to protect the ship from debris in orbit as well as having military applications. ------------------------------------------
