Starting Wednesday I was unable to log into the game. I get the log in screen where I'm to put my password and "checking status..."which then turns into "Tranquility...Unknown", when it should read "tranquility...24354 players online".
If I enter my username and password I get the error message "Could not connect to the specified address. Odds are that you have not established an internet connection, the server isn't running, or the server address or port number was wrong."
I've reinstalled the game 4-5 times, I've cleared my cash, I've erased the game folder and clean installed.
I'm downloading a new copy of the client but it looks to be the same build I was using and I'm not optimistic it will work.
I've searched the forums and found one thread about this problem but no good fix. http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=382650
I've had this problem a couple of times before and after re-installing the client I was eventually able to get in but haven't detected a pattern that results in a fix. This problem has never lasted this long.
If you have any ideas please help me. I'm dieing to get back into the game.

I'm no comp expert but it still sounds like it could be a firewall issue. What are you guys using as firewall?

Comodo Firewall. Security policies set up 3 months ago and Eve was working OK during that time. This is the first time im experiencing this problem. I dont know what is going on. Its not a firewall problem. I can connect to game sometime, play 2 - 15 minutes. Then i get msg "Connection to server lost" and cannot connect again for a few minutes. Internet connection is OK im pinging websites like google, eve, yahoo with no packet losses. So WTF? :(

Edited by: A39 Heming on 08/08/2008 21:39:40 Ah after two days of frustration I find the solution was right in front of my eyes and if it had been a snake...
Someone had turned on Peer Guardian while I was at work, and I just kept missing it.

I've been having this problem as well... I don't have Peer Gaurdian and my Firewall is set to allow it to run... I've also uninstalled and reinstalled EVE multiple times and deleted the Cache multiple times as well.... and yet I'm still having problems. My EVE client still can't seem to find the server. Every time I try to connect to EVE it gives me the message "Connection to server was closed." And at the few times that I can log in I can only play for about a 1 1/2 minutes at best... Please help me...... |

I've been having the same problem (checking status showing for several minutes...then only being able to stay connected for a couple minutes at a time). This has just shown up over the past couple weeks. I used to be able to play dual-client marathon sessions of EVE with no problems. I have done a complete uninstall/reinstall several times as well. I have no other internet problems.
I know it's not a firewall issue because I have the same problem when I completely disable all firewall/anti-virus software. I have been running on vista 64 and EVE is always run with administrator privileges. Any ideas?
