Has anyone used any of these two with the premium graphics package to run smoothly on a 2.6+ Imac(or macpro) desktops?
Im considering a switch to Mac, and the Imac 20" with 2.6 is looking tempting, but without premium graphics, AND dodgy performance is a bit .
Makes me think about getting another dell or something since i do play alot.

just get a big enough harddrive and install XP via bootcamp (or even vista if you like). that way you can play every game you want natively.
prallels and vmware can barely run the classic client. so the current classic client for the mac is the best choice within OSX.
no need for a separate machine.
current imac's mac pro's and macbook pro's can run premium via bootcamp as good as any pc without any performance hit.
so go for it. i promise you won't regret the switch ever.

just one thing to add, before you buy the 20 inch imac. have a good look at the display in an apple store. the colors on the 20 inch screen are noticable inferior to the 24 inch imac.
the 24 inch maybe a bit more expensive but is an excellent allrounder with decent gaming performance.

ve runs lousy in parallels if at all, and very slow with only classic content in vmware with their new direct x experimental support.
no premium gfx in a VM - it requires drivers that utilize the whole shader technology shit etc nobody is developing these for VMs.
i personally use a macbooc with 2.1 ghz duo core - and i get very smooth and fast gameplay with bootcamp (only classic , but at least i can play from abroad) the cider solution promoted by ccp runs rather lousy - you can start it and after a few minutes you be in the middle of funny grafic errors and then finally comes the total machine lock up - requiring to use power off/on.
(this can only be explained with lousy coding)
aparrantly i am not amongst the "supported" machine types - so i have to shut up and watch if my fellow mac users who actually have a macbookPro - are happier with this so called mac client.
i wish ccp would reinvest some part of their huge profits into hiring real programmers who do a real native running client. never stop dreaming....

C'mon CCP guys! Have some respect for Mac Users Community here and give us some real and concrete infos about the future of mac version and the adoption of premium gfx in particular!
I love this game, but you're ridicolously delaying some kind of answer or release date for months! Incredible way of thinking about "consumer satisfaction".
Incredible!
