I have no experience with missiles. But I'm very interested in inty dogfighting.
Assuming I had max skills, flying a crow loaded with precision bloodclaw's, how fast would an enemy inty have to fly in order to negate the damage caused?
I understand its 4km for normal missiles?
Thanks

ah, thats a pretty easily reachable speed for most intys.
Can i assume then that, because of the penalties of using it (decreased speed yourself) and the fact that most inty's go over 5km/s anyway, that precision lights are a useless anti-inty weapon?

correct. Fly funky to make them turn around and chase you, no speed = full volley damage. -------

It's a bit more than that. With TNP V, Precision Lights have an explosion velocity of 4500 m/s. So your target will take half damage at 6000 m/s, and be immune beyond 7500 m/s. Damage past 7000 m/s will probably be inconsequential, though.

It's really quite a bit faster than that. Contrary to popular belief it's not simply explosion velocity * 2 to avoid missile damage. You won't be doing loads of damage against an inty going 6km/s but you still do *some* damage.
All that being said, T2 intys can evade enough damage to make it virtually impossible to kill them and they are certainly going to be faster than the crow (that penalty for speed per tube with precision lights loaded). Mild pimped intys are going to break the invulnerability barrier handily. Truly pimped intys (deadspace MWD, faction od's etc, snakes) are going to exceed the invulnerability barrier by so much that it's not worth trying unless you think you'll be able to get them to bounce off a gate/ship/asteroid (which can happen at ludicrous speed)

Invulnerability is at explosion velocity +3000, other kind of invulnerability is when missile speed is exceeded so the missiles don't even hit.

Probably 5 people in EVE use precision lights. And they don't have perfect skills with them.

Against an inty I'd say you're correct. Against any other nano boat beyond super pimped vagas yes. My Cerb's explosion velocity is over 5k/s - enough that any t2 nano is going to unpleasantly surpised when something hits them for full damage with troubling regulariy.

I guess I'm one of the five then.
And oh, I have maxed skills for the crow - I've been flying the damn thing for nearly 3 years.

And until I get a precision heavy missile that doesn't suck so hard I'll continue using them on my Cerberus.
