Edited by: Kaladryn on 23/05/2004 09:36:53 This problem is resolved for me, everything working perfect for the last 2 days...
Edited by: Kaladryn on 21/05/2004 21:07:44 This problem started in the last two days. I often times cannon access the eve online website, even though I can get into the game fine. All other websites are working fine. I suspect this is an IP Address issue, I use a NAT, and if I reboot my router repeatedly, I can eventually get the eve-online site to work. It seems like the webpage is not letting certain addresses connect. Perhaps CCP had to ban a certain IP range, and my NAT sometimes picks up that range?

Same here, I thought it was just my PC so I didn't say anything about it
Started about 3-4 days ago now. www.eve-online.com doesn't work but http://myeve.eve-online.com/ does so I just use that for the time being.
It does appear to be IP related and should be solved soon if the EVE website people update the DNS's with the new IP. (if thats what needs to be done).

Edited by: Filthy McNasty on 22/05/2004 08:05:38 Edited by: Filthy McNasty on 22/05/2004 08:03:02 Same problem, both computers here, mine and my wifes, we use a DSL gateway. I tried to ping the game server addy, it times out ( though that dosn't supprise me) and gives 100% loss cant run a tracert on the web server address either. times out after about 10 jumps. packets seem to die at an Iceland telecom router. I figure eve is under some sort of DoS attack, and is blocking some traffic. but that's just a guess. Maybe we can get a Dev or GM in here to help us with the problem? Furthere info: I ran Netstat command while running EVE, the address for the web server reads CLOSED-WAIT While playing the game, this seems normal as I've seen it before while playing and had no trouble accessing the www.eve-online.com addy.tracert gets as far as an iceland telecom server before it times out.

same here.
mentioned on the irc channel and people were thinking i was mad or summit. cannot get to the main page for luv nor money.
direct link to forum works fine....
Ping/Tracert its not possible to ping or trace the gameservers or web forums. the reasons for this are two fold..... firstly blocking ICMP traffic to the web/game server is supposed to improve speed for all peoples and protect agasint any possible attacks.
the second reason is that if people cannot trace/ping the servers then they are unable to post damming pings/traces on the forum.
sly tactic...but many companys providing web based services use the same trick.

I haven't had any problems accessing the EVE website.
However, almost all of my friends who play EVE cannot access anything but myeve.eve-online.com I'm beginning to wonder if someone at CCP didn't accidentally block a whole slew of IP addresses when updating some network configurations by mistake.

Hi folks It would help if some of you could reply with a few specs that we could use to diagnose this problem. Info such as which type of router/modem you're using, the location where you are trying to connect from and perhaps the last 8-6 lines of the trace to the eve-online website. Hopefully we'll get to the bottoms of this. /Cheers

Same problem here too. A reply from a GM to one of my petitions made it clear that this web-page access problem was in no way at his end.
Well, reading other peoples comments in this forum would tend to indicate otherwise. Interesting to see that the problem isn't tied to any particular router/modem setup.
There seem to be a couple of threads about this problem and one of them mentions the possibility that ccp have blocked a certain range of ip's? Why would anyone want to block any ip from accessing their web-page?
Anyway I just wanted to reply to the GM's and say that YES the problem is at your end, so let's get motivated and sort it out shall we? Hmmm?

Well it seems the problem is either connection, or ISP specific.
I have two machines with their own connection from diff. ISP's.
My main machine started having the problems with eve-online.com a few days ago, while myeve.eve-online.com worked and works as it always has. Meaning a bit laggy at times, but no major problems.
So tried accessing eve-online.com with the secondary machine, first in internet connection shared mode from my main machine. Same problem. ie no access to eve-online.com but myeve is ok.
I then disabled the conn to the main machine and enabled the other isp connection on the secondary machine, and now eve-online.com works fine, as does myeve.
So the fault may not be CCP's but I don't think it us end-loosers fault either.
Maybe someone or something screwed up the routing or what know I.

I'm no longer having this problem, however this may help some of you: Most of us are likely using a NAT (network address translation), unless you KNOW for sure you have a "static IP" which costs extra in most cases, chances are your ISP assigns you a new IP address each time you connect to the internet. This is a pretty standard security measure, however it can cause problems for websites that need to "IP ban" people, to work around this, they often ban an entire range of IPs that covers anything that NAT might use. If someone else besides the banned persons picks up a number in that range, they are banned also.
Anyway, hope this helps some of you troubleshoot your problems, it may have nothing to do with it, just a theory, as I was unable to connect with some IP ranges, and able to connect with others ones after rebooting my router...

After reviewing what has been posted here us I must say that I tend to agree with what Kaladryn has said. This could very well be some IP address issue. We however don't have anything to do with that so I can't be sure. We'll notify hosting about this problem and have them take a look at it. Hopefully they'll be able to figure it out. /Cheers
