Lol, I knew this question would come sooner or later. The reason I locked it is, under the slick first page is two pages of ungodly mess that even I the author can't follow sometimes (the original version had the other two pages visible).
Also, I spent nights doing this spreadsheet, from being harrassed by the girlfriend to "come to bed it's 4 in the morning", to spending hours trawling the forums looking for stacking penalty formulas and how they work, to Alt Tabbing a billion times to get all the ship names and sensor strength info. So the moment I unlock it, someone with uber-slick excel skills will simply refine the spreadsheet and my time in the sun will be over . Also the working has been checked over and over, it all checks out with EVE, EFT and EVE-Mon, so there's no probs there.
I will tho, be looking to add that "generic ship" update soon so check back ppl.
Oh and thanks for the Open Office info, I might have to rewrite it yet. hehe I knew nothing about excel before this project
Thanks

Edited by: Liiza Valora on 05/07/2008 18:45:33 Hi Sollan Dyl thank you for a great program. I have some questions/comments about it: - Why will your program not allow me to select the ship type i am trying to jam? - I can't select the number of signal distortion amps. - I can't select number and types of rigs fit to my ship. - I can't select relevant ship skill level.
Is this jamming calculator locked or not operating properly? The program I am using is OpenOffice 2.4, It should be compatible. Thanks for your help and again great idea for a third party application. It's people like you that make eve-online better.

Liiza, instead of asking this, read the thread, and the post above you, Ooo doesn't work with it, neither does the excell viewer of 2003. Disallowed sig graphic. Send an e-mail to [email protected] when it meets the forum signature guidelines. ~Saint |

Edited by: Kazuo Ishiguro on 05/07/2008 19:02:47 I'd say open it up anyway. If someone does come along and refine it, you can learn from them. And believe me, it may look like a mess but I bet it's nothing like as bad as some of the spreadsheets I've worked with...
Also, if the game is updated at some point and you're no longer around, people can keep the spreadsheet in sync with it Zzz research towers Direrie NEW: Liekuri

Very useful spreadsheet, however there seems to be a problem when using multiple ECM with strength higher than the target ship's strength (the more ECM applied the less the chance to jam is).
Other than that great work, keep it up

Great spreadsheet, very useful. I have a question about the situation, where I fit, say 4 *different* racial jammers on my Kitsune. One jammer type for each race. I need to know the cumulative chance to jam a particular ship using *all four jammers*. Is there a way to know that?
In practice it is quite rare to have all racial jammers of one particular type. Also, when the "main" racial jammer fails, one usually wants to take a shot using other race jammers, since together they still seem to produce a better chance than multispectrals.

Thank you! I absolutely love this tool. Fantastic work. I'll be pointing my students to this thread.
The one thing I'd like to see is an option to set Signal Dispersion to 0. Eve Uni teaches from ab initio.

im sorry, but maybe im dumb. How do you calculate something that is partially chance based?? |

Yes you are quite right, in Eve world jamming you can "hit" with non racial jammers, so to help with this I might add into the "Ecm module" section a non racial jamming module, i will add two, 1 for a tech 1 module (1) and 1 for a tech 2 module (1.2). This will workout your percent chance to hit if you miss with your racials. Unfortunately to work out a total percentage chance with both your racials and non racials would require a whole rewrite.

basically this spreadsheet works out your chance to "hit" a particular ship with a cycle your jammers, it's essential for all ECM pilots as they can accurately predict their chance to jam any ship they might meet in the eve universe.

Huh? Decent skilled kitsune will have about 12/4 on racials, 8 on multispecs; 4 jammers So against single target BS with say 24 strength using all your jammers gives total jam chance 81% with 4 multis and 71% with 4 different racials. Racials have advantage in range and cap consumption so it's up to you to decide what do you want.

Sollan Dyls alt here,
I have a new version of the eve jamming calculator, Sollan can't currently log in to update the original post, so this is the link to the new file
EVE Ecm Jamming Calculator v1.2
I have updated it so you can select if you don't want to use the signal dispersion skill as peter from eve university requested
also I have added the ability to calculate the chance to jam with your "other" racial jammers not suited to the ship your trying to jam.
And also fixed a few other bugs and visuals
Hope you's like it
