Launcher freezes at: (1/3) Creating EVE_Online_3344784-349998.patch 15.0%
Repair tool freezes at: (3/7) Downloading recipes: Initializing ...
No errors in either case, and no activity visible in the Task Manager. In both cases, MY NETWORK CONNECTION STOPS WORKING. I cannot connect to anything using my browser or even ping other machines on my local network. So I'm thinking of course the launcher and repair tool freeze: they can't access the files they need on the CCP server. Once I kill the launcher or repair tool my network connection returns.
I'm running Windows XP 32-bit SP3 |

CCP Donut Golem wrote: Were you running version 1.04 or 1.05? If you're at 1.04, please restart the Launcher to receive an update, which may fix this issue.
The patching I did was unsuccessful. Here's what happened:
1. After the initial patch to get the launcher (v 1.04), I clicked "Play" from the launcher.
2. The client launched and showed that it was incompatible. A dialog box appeared with the message "The update has been downloaded. The client will not close and the update process begin."
3. The Update Setup dialog box appeared but once it was finished a warning message appeared "Multiple instances of the launcher cannot be run from the same directory. This instance will now close".
4. Clicking on the "Play" from the launcher (still v1.04) resulted in the same process repeating itself (steps 2 to 3).
5. Running the repair tool from the Eve client folder ended with the message "Completed successfully. The Eve Online client was successfully repaired". Starting the Launcher showed that it remained at v1.04
6. Directly starting eve using the eve.exe application resulted in steps 2 to 3 repeating.
7. Starting the Launcher did not auto-patch it to v1.05 like CCP Donut said earlier.
My Eve folder resides on a different drive than my windows 7 drive. Not sure if its relevant, just saying.
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Have you tried restarting the launcher? If that does not work, I suggest running the repair tool.
Yes, i have tried the repair tool and now it plain and simply stopped working. Get another error saying i cant run multiple blah blah blah... Why are we fixing your mistakes... why is there so many problems with this and all you guys seem to be doing is spitting out usless information as to how its now OUR fault or mistake its not working. Really ????
Fix this and make another update patch where 60k different ppl getting individual errors dont have to individually fix thier own issues caused by your patch... |

Clicked play. Client launched as normal the login screen. However, the client thinks its still running the previous version. Ok, maybe I missed something, launched the old patcher again, which relaunched the launcher, which in turn does nothing. It still says the client is up to date. Tried launching again. I'm stuck in one giant loop of redownloading the launcher and the launcher claiming my client is up to date. Other than being stuck in a loop up redowloading the launcher patch, everything is running normally. No crashes, no dumps, etc.
I tried running the repair tool, but the same thing keeps happening.
I'm on a very low bandwidth connection so I can't redownload the client installer and start fresh. OS is Windows 7 x64. Does this also happen if you go into your EVE directory and just start eve.exe directly? If so, then your shortcut file might be messed up and I'd suggest deleting it and recreating it.
I've tried launching directly from the exe file, deleting the exe and running the repair tool, deleting all cached information, as well as reinstalling hte launcher itself. Still does the same thing, launches the previous version and starts the patching process over again. Something I noticed when 'exporting' the file the launcher downloaded: EVE_Online_342397-342397.patch. Why would you patch to the same verison over again? The launcher is failing to find an availible update and continues to tell me my client is up to date. |

Sound bug.- Before the patch the sounds of your launchers/guns firing used to decrease the further you scrolled out the viewing range of your ship. It no longer does this, you get the same sound sat on your ship as you do viewing it from miles away which is an absolute pain if your not trying to wake the nipper up. |

I downloaded the update, and in the process of installing it told me that something went wrong so I ran the repair.exe file in the EVE folder. That went fine, but now when I try to start the client it says
"Your EVE client installation may have modified, damaged, or corrupt files. Please run repair.exe located in the EVE game directory or reinstall the game client. File not found: _PyFreeTypeP.dll" |

This is a known issue and we are working on it as we speak, so expect a fix soon.
We are also aware of the 'Warp to' option missing from the agent conversation window and working on a fix as well. A workaround for this is to use the 'Warp to' option from the right click menu while in space.

Hi
It took me almost 2h to update the client with new launcher. It was not caused by slow computer, disk, cache or internet connection.
Originally I had eve installed in local user (not admin) directory and I was using it in that way for years, and upates (run as admin) did update the right directory.
But today the new launcher did "update" not only the direcotry of my local user, but it does copy/recreate the whole data installation (thats why it took so long!) in admin account as well.
Im using Windows XP SP3. And i run game as non-admin user, and of course patcher with admin privilages. [runas popup] |

OK all 4 TQ clients successfully updated, 2 on laptop, 2 on main games machine .
I started with the laptop as it runs slower and gives me more time to stop and start things if they go wrong. Started the client as normal, download the patch and let it install. The installed started the Launcher and the launcher did its thing and downloaded the patch and installed it.
Once the [Play] button had lit up as ready to play I clicked the small GÇÿspanner (wrench in usa?) and screwdriver buttonGÇÖ and using the GÇÿPatchesGÇÖ tab exported the patch file to my Downloads folder. Next I also exported it to a flash drive, then copied the \Launcher folder from the \Eve folder to the same flash drive.
I used both of those copies to update the copies of the clients on my games pc, and after running the usual Eve start up as soon as the Launcher started immediately clicked the small icon and imported the patch file into the Launcher. Went like a dream each of the remaining clients updated in no time.
However there was a couple of problems, the launcher gave a quick flash of an error message about not being able to update a shortcut. I traced this to the Games folder on the start menu where the Eve shortcuts were both scrambled and unusable to launch the game and we still have to wait while to client stops and starts to install a GÇÿhotfixGÇÖ.
Minor niggle . Also could we please have our 16 * 9 Crucible splash screen back and not this new naff 4 * 3 job it really clashes on a 16 * 9 wide screen.

I had a problem with the launcher as well. When started it would inform me that it cannot patch the directory it was in because a process was running from that folder - specifically the Launcher itself. After taking a *deep breath* and digesting the idiocy of the message I tried running the repair tool. It asked to be updated as well and after the update told me the same thing as the launcher - it could not repair my installation because the folder had a running process - the Repair tool.
*Deep breath* again. After 1/2 an hour or so of forum browsing (not the official forums, because those were not functional) I had a small idea of my own and moved the entire Eve folder from D:\[Games]\Eve to D:\Eve and that seemed to do the trick.
*Deep breath* AGAIN. So... dear CCP devs... Windows supports chars like [ and ] in folder and file names. Any good reasons why the Eve tools don't? |

The first thing the launcher does is change the security on the EVE program folder, to make it user writeable. If your account does not let this happen then it all falls in a heap.
The only solution is to copy the EVE program folder to some place that your account has write access to, so some place other than in the Windows Program Folder.

I noticed this morning that the Training Queue window still glitched when resizing. When I would grab the window's right edge to resize horizontally, the contents would disappear and it would just be a blank window. They re-appear after closing and opening again.
Also, any chance you can have that window's central divider (the one that separates the list of skills on the left and the time remaining bars on the right) stay where you last adjusted it to? It never remembers... |

I was in the habit of installing patches on XP as Administrator, then running Eve as a non-privileged user. The new launcher, unfortunately, requires Administrator privileges to run. It does seem to launch the main game as the non-privileged user, but I would prefer that no Administrator rights be needed at all to run the game.
Also, I cannot dual box anymore with the launcher. Ugh. My directory structure is such that I have Eve installed in one directory and i am using the junction mechanism to create a "hard link" to the EVE folder called EVE2. This allowed me to run multiple instances of EVE out of the same directory. The new launcher refuses to launch twice out of the same directory.
