The rash of disconnects are NOT CCP's FAULT.
The Savvis and Sprint backbones are both showing below 70% availability. Lower than 90% is considered critical.

To explain further, some people may not see disconnect issues while others are having problems, as your location influences which route your data goes to CCP with. If your optimal route doesn't touch Savvis or Sprint, you'll be fine. - - - -

Well, its not something you just use. It really depends where your data is going and from where it starts. It's kinda complicated. - - - -

Okay. So, how do I figure out which one I use FOR EVE? Did I really need to make that clear?

Well the question is do any other of your apps send you to a server farm in the UK? Seems that most of the dc's are from US side

None of my traffic traverses those networks and I am having trouble. Explain that one?

You dont have to be crossing the sprint network to be affected by outage. Re-routed traffic will cause issues, and ingame if you are interacting with people who are crossing the atlantic network, you will have issues.

Yeah just don't buy it, that will make it go away. After all the spam I'm sure CCP is aware of it and if there's anything they can do, they'll do it. If it turns out to be those backbones though, they probably won't be able to do a whole lot. But of course you won't buy that.

I use at&t. Not Savvis or Sprint. How do you explain that all of these companies are having problems at the same time? I have gotten connection lost 15 times today already but even when i do my internet still works fine for everything else.....

Originally by: Trig Onami I think routing should be illegal. We all pay for it to be up 24/7.. why can't it be fail proof by now. BILLIONS.. no.. TRILLIONS of dollars invested in this technology over 10 years.. And it still fails at the drop of a feather. On top of that they tax the tax. While the bureaucrats are playing golf with the stars. My god if you're gonna ROUTE, use 2 routers. Not just 1. in case said first router fails. You want to fix it tomorrow morning? Make sure that it's possible to do so without STEALING from those who pay for it.

It's interesting to watch the spread of reactions to the DC problems that apparently have driven us here. The technocrats speak techese, the angry cats yell spleenese, the confused wax quizzicalean, and the lost-with-nothing-to-do-since-EVE-can't-be-played write mildly off-topic blurbs while wondering whether or not the rats ate our ships yet. Nevertheless, the real reason we are here is because we love this EVE adventure so, and are just out of sorts without it. Let's go find the culprits behind this evil and gank hell out of them.

In this case there are 4 routes to consider: - Your routing to the vent server. - His routing to the vent server. - His routing to the Eve servers. - Your routing to the Eve servers.
And in this case, only the last one has major problems. The rest are working fine.
Originally by: Trig Onami Edited by: Trig Onami on 20/06/2008 01:15:09 I think routing should be illegal.
Routing is how the internet deals with damaged hardware, by finding another route for the data. If you make routing illegal then, depending on how the law is interpreted, one of two things happens:
1 - You aren't allowed to route at all, meaning no connection even when the hardware is intact.
2 - You are allowed to route once. But when a cable that you use goes down, you aren't allowed to route around the damage. So instead of slow internet, you lose access to parts of the net.
