I've recently been debating this a lot, but can't decide. I'm running two accounts, one is primarily a combat/hauler char, the other a miner. As my miner is progressing I find myself needing more and more M3 to be more efficient in hauling ore/minerals.
The guide around here on the Itty V is pretty thorough, but the one on the Mammoth is kinda meh. All that does is talk about possible fittings, giving me no clear answer as to the amount each fitting can haul.
There are a few things for me to consider.
1) I really really dislike GSC's. In the Itty V guide you can fit 12x of them. I don't mind a few (like 4, max), but all that clicking, opening and moving stuff time and time again would drive me insane. Also, can't fit big things if your hold is full of GSC's 2) Already trained Caldari Industrial (3) and Minmatar Industrial (4). 3) Time to train to Gallente Industrial V is 20days
Since I want this char to be primarily a combat one, the 20days it'd take to get Gallente Industrial V seems a tad prohibitive. I'd rather spend that time skilling up weapons/support skills (especially with the coming expansion). I want to go pew pew the bad guys at some point and the more skills I have under my belt to help me in this goal, the better.
On the other hand, I did make two chars with mining foremost in my mind, so logic has it that I'd need a big hauler. Currently I have 17.873 M3 (+1800 for 2x GSC's) of space on my Mammoth, that's with 4x Cargo II's and no rigs. With rigs I'd hit around 27k M3.
So what it boils down to is this: Is it worth spending the 20 days for an Iteron V, or should I just maximise my Mammoth? (oh and if you actually read all this, then kudos and ty)

Honestly, who would be able to answer this but you?
How important is the combat skills to you?
One way of looking at it, the less time you spend hauling, the more time you can spend pewpewing. The larger your hauler,t he more money you can make, the more you can pewpew between your mining ops.
Cans or not, the itty is larger. Parrots, commence!

I know, but is 20days training time worth the few thousand increase in M3? That's what I can't seem to decide on. Trying to gauge public opionion and see if anyone else has faced this or similar dilemma's.

Incidentally, you can open multiple containers at once by selecting all of them, right-clicking and selecting the 'Open container (n)' option. My research services Mineral compression for carrier/Rorqual pilots |

I say just keep the Mammoth and buy the cargo rigs.
Also using GSC isnt that hard, Ctrl+A. "Ruppie ain't no puppie." |

Mammoth. Hands down.
Do you really want to be seen flying something resembling a giant anal probe?

Itty V hits 38.4 with cargo II and rigs, ~49k with GSC's.

I'd say stick with the mammoth. it might mean a few more trips per hour (i'm not used to hauling so i could be wrong). i don't think 20 days would be worth it. Unofficial Official Jita Fubar Thread |

Just go for the gallente Iterion V. I had the same problem back in my day's. I two thought the mammoth would be enough first. However I highly recommend you to go for it because.
- You can use select all and open all containers at once:) - Once you have Ierion V the Occator is just around the corner with his little brother the blockade breaker. - You will be hauling all your live in Eve. Its inevitable so more is better. - 1 Mil haulers spawns.
It's worth it, trust me.

Thanks for all the advice. After sleeping on it I guess I'll go for the Iteron V. Makes more sense long term and everyone loves people who can haul big, right? :) The only thing I fear, is running out of beer! |

You could, instead of spending the 20 days working towards the Itty V, train less time and get a mastadon. This would haul a little more than the mammoth, and be CONSIDERABLY tougher.
