I've never seen it stated as an exploit. Why there should be a breathalyzer to login to Eve:

Why would be bumping to prevent warp be an exploit ?! Jeez....
Now bumping someone for fun or just to disrupt their play may be another thing, like when you decide its fun to bump that freighter to annoy him or whatever reason. But it would be an harassment.

It was bumping ships out of POS shields which was deemed an exploit. Doing it to prevent warp is merely good tactics.
Another great use for it is bumping haulers and/or miners away from their cans to facilitate your ore stealing activities. I've been on the receiving end of that one before!

Im sure im going to get mauled but, doesnt your definition then mean that bumping a war target, preventing them from going into warp, be harrassment? -------------------------------- To borrow a phrase:

War target no, because you have shoot rights. But there was a thread only a couple of weeks ago where someone got warned for repeatedly bumping a neutral party in a belt.

Not it isn't, people should be encouraged to get out in low sec space, but never forced to do so.

You cannot bump people you are not at war with endlessly for fun (e.g. some random freighter at a gate and you just bump them ad nauseum for no purpose). That will get you a warning.
If you are at war or are otherwise bumping to achieve an immediate goal (e.g. suicide ganking that freighter) then it is fine.

Not an exploit but one of the big immersion killers about this game that i have never liked...millions of tons of ship colliding and they just bounce of each other, yeah right. Funny how in the new FW video the Nyx actually collides with the station, promo video is obviously fake as we all know eve is a glorified pinball machine ^.^

I believe podshelling, preventing a players movement by surrounding them with pods is an exploit.

Bumping just for the sake of bumping is harrassment (iirc).
Bumping to accomplish a goal other than 'Durr, me make newbie go all the waaaaaaay over there... durrrrr' is not.

What if I'm worried that someone will get in the ship in the POS and warp away?

if you at a POS then it should be shooting you right ? it has already been explained that if you bumping >FOR A REASON< other than faffing about annoying people then it is exceptible considering that you actually do something like sink there battleship

At one time it was an exploit. For some reason CCP changed its stance on the subject and stated it wasn't. I believe that was about the same time when there as an issue with stopping EW immune supercaps in lowsec. ------------------------------------------------- **** You're out of your mind!

Nah, it was declared not an exploit long before capital ships existed.

Edited by: Stuart Price on 23/05/2008 01:12:16 I find it tragic that you can't bump pods. I tried to bump some macrohaulers pod with a crow, but I passed clean through him at OVER NINE THOUSAAAAND m/s. It was a shame as I wanted to see just how far he'd go...
Forget pos bowling, I DEMAND POD BOWLING!
That said, you could get someone to slam your own pod with a nanophoon or nano-mach and bm where you land for unscannable safes so I guess this will never happen! "I got soul but I'm not a soldier" |

the only bannable bumpings are 2 cases that i know of.
POS bowling, at one time you could warp into the pos buble and bump things out, but now the bubble is a warp disruptor.
Useing grids of cans to prevent people from moveing. -------------

If this were an exploit, then bumping would not exist and, instead, ships would pass through each other. As it is, it's been a game mechanic for as long as I can remember in EVE, thus is is clearly not an exploit.

the exploit was bumping people out of PoS shields, not just simply bumping
also, bumping people in high sec while you are neutral to them is harassment: they have nothing they can do
