Will that forum turn out to be a new "Ideas and Suggestions" forum? So far if anyone has an idea they would like votes for they post there instead of the ideas forum, so how are we going to separate the two?
Also, are those forums moderated by the CSM (I think I remember mention of it, not sure)?
So, how should it work?

Wow...CSM moderation of the Assembly Park forum...where to start.
Whatever CCP's intentions on that might have been to start with, can anyone see this being anything other than a one-way ticket to instant fail-dom? I can just imagine...
> CSM Rep A locks a thread for reason Z. > Person B who dislikes/objects to CSM Rep A accuses A of abuse of power, whatever. > People C,D,E....Z jump in.
I honestly can't see CSM-member moderation working in any constructive sense, at the present time. Potentially a good idea for the future, but not now.

IMO it needs to be self-moderation by rating posts for quality by any reader. That's not a feature that currently exists, but it's desperately needed.

I think all issues proposed should follow a certain format. General ranting and ideas can go in other forums but bringing an issue to the CSM is a formal request and should have standards. Perhaps the CSM can get a basic format going? Something like:
Subject: Summary: Details: ... etc
In other words, an issue should be clear and bring forth an argument to be taken seriously.

Slashdot style self modding by folks randomly assigned on any given day plus meta moderation would be an excellent addition imho.

Absolutely, with the highest rating posts bubbling up and maybe even threads bubbling up by the proportion of high-rating posts rather than just recency of posts.
Given these and other concerns about the forum needing major feature additions for the CSM-Player link to work properly were aired extensively at FanFest '07, it's a shame all this is not in place now.
Still, I know the CSM reps have a number of people among them who have a detailed idea of what needs to happen so I trust it will be a priority issue.
Good luck, Serenity
