Just went on the Empyrian Age Test-Server and saw the align button! Nice, always wanted one!

Indeed, although very useful, perhaps it could be moved below the warp to options... Please? -----

My thoughts exactly after 5 minutes of play... WTZ must always be the first option since it's the most used. Or make it custom for everybody.

Can it be used by a FC to align an entire fleet or it it just per individual pilot?.

Isn't it the approach button, just becomes an align when you are a long way from the target. If so you don't necessarily want it moved around.
Nice enhancemnt BTW.

They can reorder when you aren't in range. Warp to definitely needs to be on top when available.

This thread makes me so happy.
Just a quick question - does this new align command work while cloaked?
FC option to align the entire gang would be pimp, but I'll settle with just the per-user one!

This one I can answer: Yes it does.
I just got logged into Sisi and got my corp militia application filed, so I'm a downtime and many jumps away from getting to test the FW content. But this I can, and just have, tested for ya.
The new align button is SWEET! ------------------ Ironfleet.com |

On a scale of 1 to Optimal, I hereby deem this command: Highly Optimal.

Concur!
And hey, Sisi is fun -- I just got to salvage a dreadnaught in Isaziwa. I never got to salvage a dread before!
(Although I confess I'm not clear on how a dread got into Isaz in the first place?) ------------------ Ironfleet.com |

Am I just reading all this complaining wrong or are you guys actually not seeing that the "align to" option merely replaces the defunct "approach" option when you are not in approach range?
There is no new "align to" button displacing the other options, merely replacing a greyed out option when appropriate. ------------------

Obviously this reply does not constitute a promise to do anything but I'd like to see the discussion take off and see opinions from both sides.

Edited by: Marlenus on 20/05/2008 21:43:10 I think that's true on the buttons, but not on the right click menu? At least, I don't think there used to be an "approach" item at the top of the right-click menu for off-grid destinations.
Doesn't matter to me, I'll adjust soon enough, it's just a matter of retraining the reflexes. And meanwhile, accidentally selecting "align to" instead of "warp to zero" doesn't hurt me, because while I'm correcting my mistake, my ship is already aligning for the warp I was trying to do. ------------------ Ironfleet.com |

ahhhh, I see, ok, thats valid feedback then, but I think most people will grow accustomed to it very fast. I've not even noticed it simply because I'm used to it already. ------------------

I agree with you, we'll get used to it so fast we won't ever remember it was different.
And seriously, I think it helps that if you select it by accident, your ship starts doing the thing you were trying to do, so the lost time won't matter unless you're in a very fast-warping ship.
(I wasn't actually one of the ones asking for it to be "fixed", but in my first twenty minutes on SISI I've already selected the wrong menu option several times due to muscle memory. It didn't matter.) ------------------ Ironfleet.com |

99% of the time I'll agree with you, but I'd rather not make such a mistake on a hostile gate.
Hopefully I should be used to it by then though. -----

Dude, not every change is a nerf.
We'll never get a better interface if we complain about every change.
Logically speaking, it makes sense to have the align option above the warp option in a menu list, because aligning is something you do prior to warping.
Yes, people are used to having warp as the top thing, and yes, people will die getting used to the change. But if it's a good change -- and I think it is -- it's still worth doing. ------------------ Ironfleet.com |
