I've been playing eve for about 7 months in total now, and missions really have lost their appeal. I can solo a number of L4's atm. It's nice for building a character at the beginning and my skills are still pretty poor (5.5mi SP) which makes me feel PVP isn't all that great an idea. I'll probably keep missioning until I can solo more (or all) L4's, and I skill up for a HAC after pretty much maxing out L2 fitted Drake (missile and shield) skills. I've probably only made about 500mi in my entire "career".
But what after?
People seem to make ridiculous amounts of money in the upper echelons of Eve with either macro mining in ORE ships (those are the ones I've spotted around the place) and killing people like me in low sec :(
What's the most efficient way?

Edited by: GB Man on 12/05/2008 14:56:20 Well there's your problem. Your soloing 4s in a drake. No wonder your bored out of your mind. If you really want a challenge, try a Rokh. Though, a Raven would make too much sense ;)

Join an alliance in 0.0, rat in 0.0... do the DED Threat 10 plexes all = more profit..
or carry on doing level 4 missions, but 5.5mil isn't at all to weak to PvP, geez people start PvP'in and make profit from 800k SP upwards...

Run missions in npc 0.0 while ganking everything in sight, these factions include sisters, syndicate, angel cartel--just a matter of getting organized and being active and you'll find yourself making new friends and enemies not to mention more isk. If playing aggressively in 0.0 doesn't sound interesting then you've hit the end game already. ___ Eve Players are not very smart. Support Killmail Overhaul

Yeah I just like the Drake, it's a money maker :P I've got a Raven in my hold and a bunch of random ships, Cormorant rigged for bigger cargo hold with just salvagers and tractors on it.
I was going to buy a Rokh, but I find my self preferring missiles and I'd like to go smaller to try push into PVP later :P
Should I buy the Rokh and train to T2 425mm's?

Well I have been in game a little longer and have about 2 million more SP's but I started as an industrialist and currently able to get the skill for the Exhumers, but I am too busy having fun tackling.
If you are able to run level 4's solo, then I am pretty sure you have most of the skills to fly a frigate fairly effectively in PvP. I am becoming more proficient every day that passes with little additional skill trianing.
Tackling = the new drug

Oh 0.0 sounds very interesting, don't get me wrong :) I'm by no means rooted in the ways of a carebear. I just always find the chances of getting into 0.0 leaves you shipless half the time which I can't afford usually, and the cost of items there is insane. Take smaller ships and be persistent maybe then start killing things when you get there?

Most 0.0 alliances have members who can make ships for you cheaply, or the alliance will have a decent way to move ships down from empire (jump freighter, convoys) so your not paying crazy prices. Some 0.0 alliance such as Clown Punchers, also offer PVP insurance payouts to help soften the blow of losing a ship, and keeps us pvping instead of looking for iskies all the time.
Killing people is just a whole lot more fun than killing rats Sig removed, lacks Eve-related content. If you would like further details please mail [email protected] ~Saint |

Edited by: PaddyPaddy Nihildarnik on 12/05/2008 15:21:45 welcome to the beginning of your eve career.
Get that drake fitted with a MWD, some tackle and your choice of a shield tank. There are quite a few threads for the drake as a pvp boat. It isnt great but if you have trained up missiles and shield tanks, its your best bet with 5.5 mil sp to get amongst it, particularly in low sec if you dont mind sec hits and killing innocents.
Try a war dec corp or perhaps join the blue vs red corps. The other option is to join a 0.0 corp, but you might get a bit overwhelmed to begin with. If you feel like you can handle the learning curve go for it, if you want to ease into it- those are your best bets.
Alternatively go rig up a cheap t1 caracal and learn the ropes through a cheap throwaway boat thats a great learning ship. You probably wont win any 1v1s or be able to throw around eft epeen but with a couple of mates covering your back its a great ship to learn on.

Well I hooked up a Caracal
5xHeavy Missile Launcher I + CN missiles
MN AB Small Shield Booster I Sheild Boost Amp I Large Shield Extender II Stasis Web I
BCS I PDS II
Decent defence rating in EFT I thought. Brought a friend (he was packing warp scrambler, NOS, Neut and stasis web) and went hunting.
For some reason last night the entire stretch from Hysera to Tama was empty, all we spotted were pods, shuttles and the aftermath of some clearly epic gate camps. Landed up in 0.0 just past Jan where we met a gate camp. We were on the wrong side though so we weren't scrambled. The lamers were doing heavy jamming though - very unsporting, so we gave that a miss and warped in which found us in The Arrow Project territory. I tried to place nice, but after sitting outside their station for a few minutes a large fight ensued which we were solidly on the loosing end of - more and more HAC's rocking up. Some kind of HAC called a Muninn delt me 5000 in a single shot with a "Muninn" weapon (love eve bugs..).
Most fun you can have for a lousy 6mi ISK I say...
Maybe we should have waited around the through-system gates a bit more and took someone a bit smaller on? Maybe we should have brought Raven's and taken The Arrow Project on ?

You need to prepare and think about this a bit more. The only thing you will have on your side is surprise. The only other weapon you have is information.
It's no good visiting them in a station system, that's just asking for trouble.
You need to think about setting a trap. You need a scout to warn you of imminent arrivals and you need to have an escape plan for when things get hot. You also need to agree with your buddy on when exactly you will decide to run away.
Here's a fairly simple idea that I've thought about for 30 seconds...
1. Find a route they use from 0.0 to empire. 2. Find a system on that route with 3 or 4 belts and only 2 gates 3. Your buddy can sit in an asteroid belt and wait. 4. You sit in a spot within reasonable warping time of him, but also within reasonable scan range of a gate. You sit there and spam the scan button and note what ships are coming through. 5. When you see one that you think you can take out (i.e. T1 Frig or Cruiser, Interceptor etc), tell your friend 6. He starts asking for help in local.... 'I'm at Belt IV-3, triple Faction BS Spawn, I can't kill it, please help'... or something like that. 7. With any luck, idiot will warp directly in to help kill the NPC and your friend. 8. You wait until your friend has him tackled and you warp in and finish him off.
One of you should carry medium ECM drones if you can, they will make things a lot safer.
This might work, it might not; There's lots of things that could go wrong... But when it does work you will get a thrill 100x greater than anything you'll get from missions.

get out into 0.0 or low sec either missioning there, trading or PVP.
Wait for factional warfare coming in next 1-3 months. Will open up high sec wars for "carebears" in a small scale pvp and NPC driven goals nad objectives and on the overall u can help determine solar systems that will change hands as well

If you'd of put 5.5 million SP into becomming a cepter / dictor pilot instead of skilling for the biggest ship you'd be as effective as a 80million SP char in PVP. So it all depends I guess
