The heat activation button is to small. For ceptor pilots there is a risk of switching off the MWD when your either trying to activate/deactivate heat. In the heat of battle and indeed when there is module lag switching off the mwd on a ceptor = death.
Has this been discussed b4?
Are there any plans to change the heat switch?

"LAG" I can neither confirm nor deny 'LAG' exists in EVE as there are no records in the log.

Just move the modules one step to the right if you consider this an issue?
That said I'm not fond of the current design of the heatbuttons, but that's really more about the small ones on each modules than the rack ones.

Yes i should have been more specific. I am indeed reffering to the toggle switch on top of the module button. Most of the time only the MWD needs activating on a ceptor so there is no need to overload the rack.

i totally agree... but!
couldnt you set a hotkey in options/shortcuts for overloading that particular slot?
i know, its only a workaround, but hey, if it saves your ass?

'Hotkeys' are great, but with the fine line of a ceptor pilot in amongst a fleet tryin to keep alive a hotkey can be miss pressed and taking your eyes of the screen even for a moment to confirm your hitting the right hotkey . Having visual confirmation of actually hitting the toggle with the cursor is probably better.

i dont know.... but when you cant even hit alt-space or whatever reliably, chances are, nothing will help. i mean you could argue its dangerous to click your turrets because your so shakey youll hit the mwd instead.
no, really, personally i use ctrl + 1 to 3 for drone orders, and i dont even need to look, because you get a feel for your buttons after a while. everything close to the f buttons or even the higher f buttons themselves provide a good set of quickly reachable hotkeys.
i dont know if its possible to reassign f9-f12, but i think it is.
edit: also i said i agree with you, the heat interface is fiddly at best. but we know how long it took to get some minor changes to the UI and i wont rely on ccp to be quick to make any useful and nice changes anytime soon again. so in the meantime you have to decide which is easier to hit, a key or that hideously small green bar.
btw, is it even possible to assign a hotkey to "Overheat slot X" ?

i agree, i keep accidently overloading my mwd when i mean to just activated/deactivate, and the even more annoying thing is that you cant tell you have pressed the wrong button until the next cycle (by which i have taken my eyes off it )
