Hi there,
I went in high sec the other day to fight some war targets, and i realised how painful it was to count how many war targets there are in local, when there's more than 100 pilots in local...
So i think it would be a good idea to have the possibility to sort the pilots in local by standings : war targets, reds, oranges, light blues, blues and neutrals. The local would for example show all the war targets on top of the pilots list, then all the reds, then all the oranges, etc.
And even why not having the possibility to chose which pilots we want to see in local channel depending on their standings, just like the overview ? It would be cool to be able to set the local channel to show reds and war targets only, for example.
This wouldn't change anything to game mechanics, it would just be help a lot to count hostiles (or friends) in local.
What do you think ?

Lo matey.
Aye, we all know local is a pain in empire when you're hunting some WT. It would be a good idea.
For myself i still think of some kind of "Folder" in local box , would be great. So it would be easier to work around it and the box's. |

CCP has mentioned that they do not like having local used as an intelligence tool. That being the case I think that changes that would make it more useful for intelligence have little to no chance of being implemented. |

Well imo it is a boost for the attackers also,it gives you a clear number of your enemies. |

Local is very basic intel, VERY basic...allowing us to filter our intel cannot be argued against...Heck, some announcement when new people enter based on standings would be very nice. It is the one window that dictates your next action, it needs a few more features.
Shiptypes, H*** no, numbers and filter, yes. Plugging also for an afk alert tag for my corpmates to see(grey my avatar out already CCP).
I would also argue having it filtered to show ONLY important people will reduce lag. Need For Speed Initiative people.

I wasn't thinking of adding more information in local channel. Counting hostiles in local is something we can already do. Having the possibility to sort pilots by standings in local would just make it a bit easier, at the moment it's just a pain in high sec. Seliah, I am sure many who fight in highsec space would agree with you. Most of those arguing for abolition of local are only talking about lowsec/nullsec space. A filter on local would be useful. I would also like to tag on a proposal to make the avatar images, in the local view, smaller, or even remove them altogether. This would allow more names to fit in the limited space available. Minimum info required is pilot name and standing icon. |

Nothing so complicated as filters is needed, just a sort. Flashing red at the top, then low standings, then low sec status, then friends. Make it reversible so you can see you friends at the top if you prefer. There might be cases where this isn't the best sort for a particular purpose, but it is no worse than the arbitrary alphabetical sort we have now.

I'd like to see:
- No avatars in local - Ability not to sort by name or sort by standing - Constellation local in low / null sec
more concise local, more useful if you're fighting war targets in empire and making it more difficult to rat in low / null.

I'd sure like this. Linking local to the overview can't be hard. Then you can control who you see in local with your overview settings. Not their ship types but just the name of any pilot who would show up on your overview.

Won't happen, for exactly the same reasons that you are not able to configure the overview to display everyone in the system.
IMHO, the way to do all this is:
Extend the scanner result window to use friend/foe colour-coding Completely remove the member list of local or just show people who have spoken there in the last say five minutes, even if they left the system.

Kitoba, I don't understand what you mean.
> Won't happen, for exactly the same reasons that you are not able to configure the overview to display everyone in the system.
The reason you are not able to configure the overview to display everyone in the system is because that would make no sense. The entire purpose of the overview is to show what is in your local area that you can interact with. Showing all of local in there would be a huge burden on the user and would provide irrelevant information. It would be a mess.
I don't see how changing the sort order of local is analogous to changing the overview so significantly.

Because using local as a meta-gaming intelligence source is frowned upon by CCP, and local itself is almost certainly going to be nerfed in some way or the other.
Your proposal would basically change local into something different than a chat-window, and that's badV. Additionally, noone is supposed to have any kind of effortless information about who is in a system, but local boycotts this.
