I am posting here to ask a relevant question after losing an (empty) (shield tanked before people start) badger ii at a gate in 0.4 sec. It was a good tackle as I had +3 warp but the assailant was flying an Onyx heavy interdictor with heavy missiles by the look of it and he warp scrambled me well and truely, I had just jumped into the sector too far from the gate and I was toast, the gate guns were apparently not a problem for him. No biggie and I knew full well that an interdictor was my vulnerability, only a week ago I was saying exactly that and how it is the only way to catch freight if you are pirating but that is another topic in its own right. I just do a little trading on the side to earn a crust and buy those pricey skill books, you know the kind of thing I am not a care bear so dont anyone upset themselves !
I got the info on my assailant (no names) and he had nice positive sec rating of 4.5 and it dropped to 4.1 after his little walk on the wild side as well it should.
Anyhow I tried to honour his ill intent by placing a bounty, as a start to exercising my kill rights etc and maybe tarnish his ill deserved spotless reputation a little (or add to his badge of honour, depending on how you look at it) and lo and behold the game wont let you bounty a player who just killed you and looted your wreck if he/she/it has positive sec. Now I cant really make sense of that. I guess this is to stop people bountying noobs or maybe to prove the old adage that the law is an ass and so on, but surely if the game can give you kill rights (which I welcome) then you could just as easily have the right to place a bounty, the question I am asking is, should you ?
Am I making sense? I am not that fussed about placing a bounty but it just didn't seem to make sense that I couldn't. Is there something I am missing? He has to kill about 11 or 12 more badgers in +ve sec space before I can bounty him and get him nuked that way.
Hence the old space farers shanty.

Also any advice on how best to tackle and take down a heavy interdictor with a single ship gratefully received.

You probably won't be killing a heavy interdictor alone. Depending on the tank, it might take you more than a few friends, and if he's set up ontop of the gate, there's not much at all that will kill him.

Well, look on the bright side, you didnt manage to waste more money on a bounty. Bounties are basically an extra way to give money to pirates.
I would guess that a fairly gank fitted battleship or possibly battlecruiser might be enough to take down an onyx, although they can have fairly impressive tanks.

Hahahaha. Good one. Yes, bring a gank-fit command ship. Your better bet is building your tank so that he can't take you out. HIC's are big on tank, not so much on gank. Try something other than a badger next time.
Anyway, bounties are useless in Eve. People just use an alt and collect their own bounty. Nobody told you that?
