Yo, found a topic with a few posts about Marines and Eve but its out dated and thus locked. That said I should be active duty again with a month or so and given my MOS my most likely duty stations are gonna be Lejeune or Pendleton.
Any other Marines out there or in those parts of the country ? Starting up in new places sucks when you don't know any one. |

"should be active duty again" Getting reserve called up, or in-active reserve? |

I have been on active duty since spring of 97 and it is a small world. I happen to be from Greensboro NC but I am currently stationed in Chesapeake VA.
Nice to meet you guys. Marines always find each other.

In Philadelphia, PA here. Active for 14 years. But I guess that doesn't help ya out since you'll be in one or the other armpits of the country...Jacksonville or Oceanside...

Edited by: Lord Jakara on 11/06/2008 22:09:48 If you end up in Pendleton go north instead of south when leaving base. You're less likely to be shunned because you're military (sad but true), take the PCH for some excellent scenery and holy s**t are there some fine women and they are less likely to slap you because of your haircut :P, there are some nice spots to surf and relax. Did I mention the women?
/me digs out luggage and books a flight to Southern California
p.s San Diego can be fun too, but you then have to deal with more Military because of the recruit depot and the Squi...ehm Navy base. The women are fine too but the ones up north just seem a bit more... you'll see :) ____________________________________________

Five months after first post and I've finally got 95 % of my crap sorted.
I got Lejeune, though for how long remains to be seen. They're trying to close out my brig I work in by 2010 and I pray this out dated monster goes out with out a fight....then in again they said in 04 it was closing in 08, so go figure.
As to coming back in, to iir recall or any of that mess. Just after 2 and a half years I decided I missed it.
Any way, hope to see folks around and possably get up to do some thing some time. Thanks for the responses and Semper Fidelis

Just want to thank all of you for your service.
Don't think bad of me for only being an Army Puke, but my son gave a burst of six to the Marines. I could never decide if I wanted to make it a career or not, so in '97 I finally decided to get out with 33 years of service. My wife just retired with 20 and is still in OJT for being a fully trained retired fart. It takes three years for full qualification and then you get to wear a cap (er, sorry... cover...) with several pounds of crap pinned on. I had lotso time in NC, just further inland than you guys.
Fly safe!
