Ok Heres my idea.
I know that the ship is soposed to be souly controled buy the pod pilots nural link. but what if we are just giving commands through that link to a crew. all the ships already look like they have hundreds of rooms in them with windows.
you could buy ship crews with differnt sizes and types for different ship class's. there could even be a seperate skill training for your crew, or they could just gain experience in different areas based on how you are using your ship. and the more experience your crew gets in certin areas will give bonuses to differnt atrebutes of your ship
the basic unexperienced crews could also have specilizations that would give bonuses to certin areas of your shpps stats or moduals fitted.
when your ship gets poped your crew would regretable be destroied compleatly or some could survive in your wreak, and you would have to buy replacement members which would lower the overall bonuses that they provide. Mess with the best.....Die like the rest.

Some ships do actualy have a crew. I remember reading about it in either a chronicle or a short story, some thing about a guy who actualy goes and talks to his crew while some pob piolets never even see their crew.
I think a crew idea would be nice and you can either 1) Hire them from a school if you are cald, gal or min and then pay then like x isk a month depending on the size of the ship 2) Buy slaves from Amarr space that aren't as good but you dont have to keep giving them any money.
Then over time depending on if you hire or buy they can slowly gain experience if the ship is active and they give you a bonus to ship systems. Maybe after 5 weeks they max out with a 3% bonus to dmg, cap, speed or tanking depending on which crew you got.

All ships larger than a frigate have a crew. Battleships get somewhere between 6000 and 10000 people, maybe even some more.
There is also a extensive thread about this topic here. You might want to add your ideas to that one, too.

actully even some frigate have crew, like the probe for insance has 2 little guys on there. a rifter has 1 extra crew member lol.
the idea behind tech 2 ships is actully that all that useless crew space has been taken out to make the ship better.
Also tech 2 ships in general just take less crew as they are builtfor pod tech form the ground up while tech 1 ships are built for people and have a pod slaped in there form days pasted before pod tech.
so a balance with crews might be that tech one ships have more crew and tech 2 ships have less.

This is what I was thinking and discussing with Xzanos in the car. Every race has its own type of "crew". Your "crew" adds bonuses to your ship. When you kill some one you can take their "crew" from their ship and sell them for isk; either that or be able to ransom their "crew" for isk. Each ship type has a maximum limit, so for example a Battleship can have a max. limit of about 250 "crew members". It would be a bit ridiculous if you got blown up while you were in a Battleship and u fit you Frigate to have about 500 "crew members". You can buy skills to upgrade your "crew" and the more you train them, the more bonuses are added, but still only a maximum limit can be added. If your ship is blown up and you some how obtain your previous "crew members" their skill level lowers by one through shock of being in a ship while it blew up. Each race would have only one type of "crew", and within that "crew" you have ranks. You work to build up the ranks within your race. Lets say for example your Battleship blew up, and you obtained a fraction of your "crew members". Your "crew members" were at Battleship level. You go to buy more "crew members" and they are at beginner level. You will have your "crew members" at the level they are at and then you have the level of the beginner "crew members". When you have a superior level of "crew members" and you are trying to train a lower level of "crew members"; they will be able to train a bit faster through experience on two levels. One they train through combat while they are in the ship, and two they are able to train through their superiors. So it gives you a little bit faster time to catch up to their superior "crew members". If you didn't have that then their would be a constant rank distance between the higher level and the lower. That is my view of the situation. Feed more comments. -Xzanos08 |
