that wasnt the beta, the dual mwd ravens and hilarious bumping was in castor

4th here, but I had the chance to be much older. April 2004, I'm on leave in Australia and a mate of mine shows me eve. I remember the Minnie starting ship (it looked stupid as hell) and his excitement over the bad ass rifter he picked up (well, it looked bad ass) and him trying to show me the solar system as he warped through it, etc.
And I said, neh, I hate MMO's.
two and a half years into eve I still kick my own ass for not starting sooner.

I've still got bookmarks to the "missing gates" that used to connect the hub system.
Oh, here's one from beta--remember when there was no auto pilot and no way to plan a route other than looking at maps and kinda going "I bet if I go there, I'll get closer to there."
And cruise launchers on frigs. Mmmm suicide kestrel really meant something in those days.

Current New Player going by that I didn't undertand no nothing and sucked. I remember conquerable stations being launched though, gotta count for something? I was also technically part of the ISS experiment (neutral trade hub fail), just before they collapsed to... IAC, was it?

YOUR KIDDING RIGHT! I take auto pilot fpr granted theese days, warping to 0, then hitting AP during warp so that it auto jumps the moment I Get into range...
or just ue it to plan a route and then use JT0.
Im a 4th generation pilot, although The game changed alot during my time here...
Warp to 15M, that was awsome you actually had to fight if you stole from a wreck, or when you warped to a star gate... Ours had belts The "salvage wars" in the rookie complexs Duripant had complexes, that used to spawn noob PVP :) The UI was wierd Random crashes to blue screen when I PVP in low sec NO HEAT NO recruitmet adverts The 4 hour plus long tutorial...that took months to complete...becuase it was boring as hell The days when CYVOK flow the titan. (I remember running to my MUM becuase no one else was around and saying, "OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG CYVOKS TITAN WENT DOWN", she would say "Thats nice dear...whats a ttan?")
That was only in my generation till now...so I can imagine what its like for 1st gen Vets... --------------------

2nd "Castor" Generation Veteran: Jan 2004 û Oct 2004
February 2004 is the date I was born, was very active player up to about 1 year ago (BoB incident with the blueprints), where I took roughly 6 months break ... game really became the same after that to be honest, and to this date I only log in at times and play not so often anymore.
Hope is that I still will get the great feeling I once had for this game.

Early third generation. The time of the Exodus!
Facts from those days: - CCP reimbursed everyone with a free day of play because the expansion was so horribly buggy and TQ kept crashing days on end. - You didn't get flagged for stealing and thieves were considered the lowest lifeform around New Eden. - Taking down a POS was an insane job, since carriers and dreadnoughts still had to be invented. --- If it floats, and it doesn't say 'quack', sink it! |

Quote: 1st ôSECOND GENISIS BETAö Generation Veteran: May 2003 û Dec 2003 The "Great" grandfathers of EVE online, who helped define EVE as we know it today requesting things like the corporation alliance system and fine tuning the mechanics we take for granted. Times back then times were hard with the battleship being king of the fleet and turning the table in any battle.
1st.
But you missed some stuff. I invented the "boo-hoo pirates ganked my ship" forum whine. Now I've got so much ISK I invite people to come and gank me just to see the pretty explosions. Indeed I lost my Abaddon on Friday night, rigged with a full T2 fit, and rather than whine, I poured myself another Cognac and lit up a nice Cigar.
Anyone want some ISK?

1st Gen
Was in the corp (Cornexant) when we built (Alongside Bladerunners) first BS (Scorp) with Datamax flying it. It was lost to m0o in an epic battle.
Also part of one of the first major battles against TTI & M3G4
Although rerolled on Logi3, i still remember alot of early eve, glad to have been part of it! ----

1st - think the version was called "gemini" or something iirc.
Bought Eve when it came out first in Game stores in the UK but my then PC wouldn't run it. Had no other reason to change my PC so left it for a few months (foolish me).

1st with a few breaks some long some short, but i always come back. When i bought eve it came on a CD ROM from a gaming store and 3k people online at once was considered a lot.
It's quite fun to see what EVE has evolved into but if i was given the chance to go back to EVE like it was in 03 i probably would
