how heavily do u have to be active if you become an isd member,
I dont have any actual quota in mercury, my emphasis is on the team. If i see anyone slacking without a good excuse (such as stressful times in the job or other real life commitments that suddenly demand more attention) it means that they let down the team and i wont have that. I¦m an understanding and merciful VA but i do expect a certain ammount of activity and commitment to the team. So please consider whether you really have the time needed before you apply.

How will you prevent corrupt Aurora/ISD members to essentially give away free motherships and carriers to their friends using events or some such?

This may be an odd question, but for those of us with no lives contemplating joining, is there enough work for someone who, say, can write a good 10 to 20 pages a day of fiction?
Another question I have is one I don't know if you can answer at this time. How much of an input into stories will volunteers have? Are volunteers free to come up with fiction on their own or are stories assigned?

We have certain topics we work on, the tournament was one for example. Our stories revolved around that and everyone in Mercury was free to come up with their own ideas on how to approach it. These story ideas are discussed and looked at by the team, me and my leads and finally CCPs fiction team if a story involves high level fictional elements. On a scale from 1 to 10 i would say the input you have is at 9ish. And yes, there is always enough work simply because there can never be enough fiction.

a good I'd but it will drag the level of the game down and be a bad thing for the player base..
my opinion
No, to be quite honest with you.
Just because you're not being 'paid' to do something doesn't mean you won't do your job to the standard of someone getting paid to do it. Let's look at example A, a small open-source project. Sure, there might be some cash from ads and donations from happy customers, but other than that it's doubtful that there'll be any other cash coming in via the project. Now let's look at example B, A big, unnamed company. "What's that you have there lovely customer? A bug? And why do we care? Especially as it works fine for us..."
PS. This is anything but bad for the game. -----

I see there are some conspiracy theorists on these threads, just to let you know that Aurora was investigated thoroughly and no motherships were given to "friends". I know this kind of rumor goes the rounds and rapidly becomes fact.
Regardless, Mercury do not maintain a in game presence, they are an out of game team so you dont have to worry about titans appearing in your hangar anytime soon.
Cheers, Ginger.

A CCP enquiry found no corruption inside CCP agencies? Why am I not surprised. The volunteer programs will forever be tainted by previous actions and nothing you can say will change that. But hey, you get to write fanfic, so good for you.

Hmm I think that the whole idea is amazing. Letting the community take part in the development of their world and its back story. As for it being low quality because they are not getting paid for the work. For the people that would be applying for such a position it would not be about pay. It would hopefully be about one of 2 things. 1. A love for fiction writing and eve. 2. A want to get something for the resume. Money is not the only payment you can receieve. In this case they would get personal enjoyment or an amazing resume addition. As far as the whole giving friends caps ships thing. Personaly I think that unless you have some proof other than what your friend told you he was told or said he saw, You have no real reason to speak on it unless you have access to the ccp databases. Now if you do please feel free to answer our questions once and for all. Altho no one will believe you are telling the truth unless you say that it did happen. So sadly there is no need to delve deeper into this topic. Hey just a few of my opinions feel free to shoot me down if you like. Just thought id say that i loved the idea :D

Originally by: ISD Serathu Ashk Folks, please remember that your application to ISD should be kept in confidence... I wouldn't post here that you've applied!
Mmmmm.... sekrits
Too many secrets. Ironically, the need for confidentiality is omitted from the ISD faq and the application page.
Please note that while "The Terms of Playing for EVE Online ISD Guide Program" is mentioned on the application page at http://myeve.eve-online.com/isd.asp, the details are not divulged, nor is there a link to the Terms. Nor is there any mention of confidentiality on the application form itself.
It's nice that the confidentiality aspect was at least mentioned in a forum thread, but it really should be included with the ISD faq and application form.
The application page warns that volunteers must be at least 18 years of age. You could easily add that applications must be kept confidential.
Please make the terms public and post them in the appropriate place. There's no need for a sadistic "gotcha" like this.
