I'm kind of new to invention and was looking at the datacore and interface requirements. For my starter BP, I need an interface and 2 x 2 datacores. The interface is a one time purchase but the datacores I'm not sure on. They work out to 500K each x 2 x 2. One set is actually around 600K per, so I am looking at around 2.2 mill for datacores. This is just to get a T2 BP. My question is, does this convert the full run to T2? (300) or do these need to be replaced on every invention? Because the product I am making sells ont he market for a typical 1 mill each. So I can't imagine I am in 2.2 before I even actually make the product.
How many Datacores am I going to need for say 10 300 run BPC's? 20 x 2 types or 200 x 2 types or just 2 of each? TY in advance. |

You need new datacores for every attempt. So, for your example, you need 4x 10 cores (4 per job, and 10 jobs), so 20 of each kind.
Invention is a fairly cost-up-front thing to do, compared to most other industry.

Also note, since you are talking about modules, it probably doesn't make sense to use decryptors, so you can expect a 10 run T2 module BPC from every successful invention job. Base success rate for modules is 40% and this will be increased somewhat by your skills.

As for the decryptors: http://www.eve-production.org/invention/decryptors.html
If you buy them instead of finding them by exploration sites, you will end up in (-)isk wallet. You loose money since dectyptors are very expensive. As example the price of 1.8 / 80% (Stolen Formulas) Gallente will costs about 50-60 mill each (price check Jita 26th Mars 2008). If you need to buy decryptors, I would rather suggest you don't use them. As for myself, I bought some, just to test things out. For futher invention, I may skip them and use only interface and datacores. CCP may want to increase the drop of decryptors, as for today it just not worth it unless someone is happy to spend some isk.

Decryptors are not useless. It's just that it's not reasonable to use one in every job you do. For example when doing modules it might not be reasonable to use one, but if you are inventing T2 battleships or freighters they are worth every penny on em.
