Edited by: Fink Angel on 17/03/2008 20:42:15 No, not "pew pew news" !
I just did this quiz on US related news and did better than 48% of the general public. Thing is, I'm from the UK, so that's not too bad.
Anyone else fancy having a go at it, no cheating!
Edit: Er, the link would be handy I guess!

69% here but honestly I should have scored better. Only one of the questions I got wrong was I totally clueless about. One I had down to a 50/50 chance and guessed wrong (and the guess was damn close). One I dunno what I was thinking...I definitely knew it.
Ahh well, I still scored better than any demographic listed.

I got a 76, but one of the questions I got wrong was the number of US service members dead from the war.
It is an old test from back when the count was 4,000 and I answered current at 6000.
The reality is that it is far more than the official numbers anyway. For instance they don't count you as a casualty if you make it to Germany and die.
Also it is against the law to keep track of the bodies returned home to America. You get arrested for taking a picture of a flag draped coffin these days. That may sound absurd, but it is true.
I missed the Senate Majority Leader and the DOW average.

No matter how hard I try, I can never remember who are Democrats and which bunch are Republicans. Is there an mnemonic or anything that helps?
I would have got the Dow index right if it was today rather than a couple of months ago, and wrong again if it's tomorrow!

Wrong.
"As of January 10, 2008 3,431 of the 4,228 total coalition military deaths were by hostile fire. 3,201 of the 3,921 total U.S. deaths were by hostile fire."
Unless we've had at least 1000 deaths or so in the past two months, the answer is still correct.

Would you be interested in buying some farmland in the Everglades, or perhaps a couple of bridges? If you take it as a package deal I might be able to throw in a Great Lake, or two and make you a real good price.

Really? Why not add in the walking dead to the casualty figures. Something they did not do in the first Gulf War.

Nationwide Media Blackout Keeps U.S. Public Ignorant About This Important Story
by James P. Tucker Jr. Global Research, October 29, 2006 American Free Press
The death toll from the highly toxic weapons component known as depleted uranium (DU) has reached 11,000 soldiers and the growing scandal may be the reason behind Anthony PrincipiFs departure as secretary of the Veterans Affairs Department.
This view was expressed by Arthur Bernklau, executive director of Veterans for Constitutional Law in New York, writing in Preventive Psychiatry E-Newsletter.

P.S. As a side note right at the time Falluja hit and we began having the largest influx of wounded Americans returning home; for some strange reason x6 Veterans Hospitals were closed down nationwide and some 50,000 Government Doctors and Nurses were laid off.
Which shows you what, that the government is actively TRYING to kill it's own soldiers? Sure they are.
Also, link all of this information, with corresponding information showing how many new hospitals were opened in the same period and then you MIGHT have a case. ________

It is pretty easy to look up the continuing yearly VA Hospital budget cuts. Do your own Googling. The latest gift to Veterans was to slash the contruction budget for 2009 in half and another 10 billion in other areas over the next 5 years when it will be needed the most.
Of course to save the troops from lack of health care we have devised an ingenious solution, which is to just let them continue in combat tour after tour after tour after tour. Then after they come home the fallout from their depleted uranium exposure will likely have all of us aglow.
Its not all bad though. The funding for cemeteries was increased.

Here's Your Score: You correctly answered 11 out of the 12 possible questions, which means you did better on the quiz than 91% of the general public. Hooray for Romania \o/ Although I must admit, I merely guessed (process of elimination first) for a couple of them.
P.S. The one I got "wrong" was obviously the one so heavily disputed in here, number of alleged Iraq casualties.
