Isn't the bright star a coding error from the star map. You know where it zoomed out from the sun.
If you were that fond of it, you can always stick something on your screen in memory

Point me to the thread where CCP admitted it's a bug and said they'll be removing it?

"A mystery star that appeared in all solar systems, brighter than all others has disappeared."
It's on patch notes...
I want the star back too

I don't think it was just a map bug thing... I imagine that would only be client side. But POS guns shot at that star in the sky for awhile.

Thats some long range guns Where can I buy me some of that juicy faction ammo
I still maintain the star was a bug, unless CCP want to come up with some kind of reason for it. ( It does look exactly like the star you got when you opened up the "seamless" map )

If you think about it, it might be part of the storyline surrounding the star. One of the news reports said it might be the light from the destruction of the eve gate in our home galaxy on the other side of the universe.

I always figgered it was the other star in the system since according to the fluff the warpgates are supposed to only be able to work in systems with binary stars.

It wasn't a star at all. It was a hole the feds poked in the Universe so they could look through it to find the MMO terrorists.

That was what I thought too. My first reaction was "They finally added the other half of the binary pair? NEAT!"

Binary stars are quite close together. The star in the sky was much too far away. Sig removed, inappropriate content. If you would like further details please mail [email protected] ~Saint |

It was probably another failed attempt at adding content, it was probably supposed to be some sort of lead-up to an event or something that CCP got bored with and decided to scrap it.

Leave the Star!
That Star gave rise to many theories. I always thought it was something to do with the storyline. I subscribed to the theory that it was the Jove Empire preparing for a secret assault against the four major races in EvE with some new type of doomsday weapon. =(
