Hey there,
I'm only a 2-day EVE noob in need of some advice. I'm still doing lvl 1 missions but I'll soon be buying a Destroyer (1 mill short) so that should take me up the ladder. My skills aren't too bad either considering the time I've been an EVE'er for...
I'd like to know if you'd advise me to join a corp at this stage other than Federation Navy and if so which corp you'd recommend me. Also, is it easy to leave a corp should things somehow go wrong?
Unbiased advice only please! :)

If you like it to play with others a player run corp is the way to go. You can easily leavy any corp but you may try to avoid to drop back into a noob corp as one can't tell the difference from getting kicked or leaving a corp in that case.
What corp is for you depends on you and that corp. If you don't provide any details what your play style is, when you are active and what you are looking for, nobody can give you any real advice. --
There are countless games in the world. There are at least as many ppl that dont like one or more rules of said games. That never stopped smart game designers from creating good games.

Thanks for that. How easy is it to leave a corp?

As long as you have not been assigned any roles it is as easy as right clicking your portrait in a chat window and choosing 'leave corporation'. If you have roles you will have to remove the roles and wait 24 hrs for the removal to take effect then you can leave. -=^=-

To find a corp to join you can look in the Alliance and Corporation Recruitment Center.

I wouldn't join a player corp until u know enough about the game and what u would like to do--new players really don't even know what questions they should be asking..
Once I knew enough to ask the right questions, I realized I did not need to join a player corp to achieve my present goals and I have never done so..

Everybody should join a player corp. I think the main question to ask is, "What time zones is your corp active in?". People will show you a lot of things but if they aren't online when you are, it's no good.

That's pretty poor advice, seeing as how joining a corp is one of the best ways to get to know about the game, and what you would like to do in it. Additionally, you'll miss out on a lot of what the game has to offer if you're not in a corp.
The best bet for choosing one is to identify one that sounds decent, with ideals that sit well with you, and hang out in their public channel for a little bit to make sure that you get on well with the people who are there. You'll also get a feel for how many of the members are online at the same times you are, too. And at the end of the day if it doesn't work out, you can always try another one.

I have heard this quite few times from new players, and it really is quite one of the most appalling pieces of advice you can give. The noob starter corps IMO are home to just a few types of people:
- Noobs (fair enough)
Pirates Alts Fools
A noob corp is usually red flagged to low sec or 0.0 corps because they contain so many pirates. Additionally it means you miss out on all the hangar sharing benefits of a player run corp. There are zero tax corps out there if tax is all that worries you.
If you are a pirate, of course, there are few better places to be. Noobs to pop with immunity, no war decs, no tax.
