Quote: They are gonna change the 425mm powergrid requirement from 2750Mw to 2500Mw soon, so that will make the Mega an (even more) impressive long-range dueller as well.
I'll believe it when it happens... it's the soonÖ we're so used to, but if it does happen I for one will be a very happy Mega pilot __________________________ "Death before dishonour, so long as it doesnÆt cost too much." |

I think the Apocalypse is an awesome ship. With its superior Cap rating, and enourmeous power output you can run a strong shield tank setup for a very long time.
Combine with Projectile based weaponry for even more cap saving and you can get the fastest sustainable shield regeneration in the game.
The only thing that nags me, is that truly I would never use lasers on the Apoc. - They are too cap absorbing to be worth consideration, and their damage is not something to be impressed about either.
As mentioned above, short range combat is the main deal these days, and lasers don't have a competitive short range version.
Apocalypse, and Armageddon for that matter, are good solid ships. But they are not friendly toward their native weaponry at all. - Not enough anyhow.
Perhaps it is on purpose. Making Amarr ships incredibly durable, but using many smaller guns dealing only poor DOT compared to others, but being able to tide the storm?

Quote: Megatron Dmg : dmg * 1.05 / skill ---> 1.05^5 = ~1.28 DPS factor
Tempect : dmg bonus and reload bonus : 1.05^5/0.95^5 = ~1.65 DPS (damage per second)
So megatron = 1.28*7 = 8.93 Tempest : 1.65*6 = 9.9 (I kept decimals) (Tempest better with 1 less gun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
A 425mm railgun does much more base DoT than a 1400mm howitzer, so a Mega with even only 6 railguns actually outdamages a Tempest with 6 1400mms by a comfortable margin. Plus Railguns are easier to fit with the lower PG requirements. Only problem is that you have to switch ammo more often (and higher cap use, obviously), so it's harder to always do optimal damage in a Mega, if the range to your target changes.

Megathron, just try armortanking it and you'll know why. tempest fast? I can use mwd. Apoc hard at closerange? It breaks that too. Takes very good capskills/armorskills tho. --

Great topic but why is the Raven being left out? I am fairly new and training Caldari ships. Does the raven not stack up anymore? Thanks

people don't like paying out the ass for missiles, especially when they're slow and take forever to reach targets.
when TomB gets around to making missiles viable weapons, Raven will be highly popular again. ------

What Jim said is the reason I dont' want to go Caldari Battleship... missiles cost an arm and leg and hit obstacles, are slow and can be evaded to easily
