Hi.
Here is a step by step instruction for how to connect to Singularity. Singularity is a public test server which is used to test upcoming changes and fixes and give developers feedback on these. Feedback is usually posted in the Game Development forum and any bugs are reported via the Bug report system. What is special about the test server is that while you have the same skills as you do on Tranquility, most items are available on the market for 100 ISK.
Read this before you join the server:
Since this is a test server, there are special set of rules. Make sure you read them here: http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=253187
Here is another thread that is very useful to read: http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=46836
Why is this interesting for you?
The current stability issues that most people are experiencing have been addressed in this build and you can try it out together with other cool things and give us feedback before it is put on the Live server Tranquility. We welcome all feedback as it is very important to us!

How to
If you have already installed the EVE Client, skip to step 3
1. Download the Tranquility client: http://www.eve-online.com/download/ 2. Install the Tranquility client 3. Rename your install to "EVE Online TQ" or something of your choice 4. Install another copy of EVE Online, download the client here http://www.eve-online.com/download/ 5. Rename that to "EVE Online Singularity" or something of your choice 6. Go here: http://www.eve-online.com/patches/patches.asp?s=singularity 7. Download the latest Tranquility to Singularity patch 8. Execute it and point it to the install called "EVE Online Singularity" 9. Note that the client you just patch changed name to "EVE Online" again 9. So, rename it to "EVE Online Singularity" again 10. Run the client.
Comments, questions and ideas are very welcome.

Awesome, thanks Casqade! :-D
Of course, I just tried to log on and it told me it was "not accepting connections" and that there were 11 players on. I'll assume that's temporary. :-P

And if sisi is running the same patch as TQ? And there's no way of downloading a further patch? Then what do we do?
For windows we change the target. For mac?

Followed instructions above. Client starts to launch but quits in about 10 seconds before showing any windows. Trying help out with Tuesday's network test. Time will tell..... |

Same here.
Would anybody who has successfully done this care to share their setup, and how they did it?

I see that a new patch number appeared either today or yesterday. I downloaded/installed this. Exactly the same issue. Nothing's changed.

Note to self :
make sure you rename your main Eve client to TQ otherwise SiSi patcher will rename the copied version (called EVE Online copy) back to EVE Online ... and delete your TQ version for you.
Note to CCP : can you get the patcher to leave the 'application' name alone please ?

This is what I get....
Quote: Could not connect to the specified address. Odds are that you have not established an internet connection, the server isn't running, or the server address or port number was wrong.

OK found a work around. pen your/Users/username/Library/Preferences/Eve Online/Preferences/p_drive/Local Settings/Application Data/CCP/EVE/c_program_files_ccp_eve_tranquility/settings/ and edit the PREFS.INI file.
add the this line. server=87.237.38.50
save it. you will now be able to log into the test server..
you will need to remove the line in order for you to log into TQ
Hope this helps

The reason why it is pointing at Tranquility is because we are running close to the release of the expansion. If you have this problem, try out the workaround that Hagis McBree provided. That is the proper way of doing it.
Thank you Hagis McBree.

thanks for putting up the SiSi mac patch again.
test server seems offline right now. but i wonder...
wasn't there an option of some sort that let you enter the server ip in a text input below username/pass instead of changing prefs.ini ?

I've followed these instructions to the letter, the client does not connect to the test server.
According to http://eve-offline.net/?server=singularity the server is up. Any ideas why it just times out?

just updated to 5.11.60497
still unable to connect to singularity :(
really disappointed
- still no premium - still next to zero communication with the users - still fubared textures all over - still no working minimap - still fubared maps in mission details - still no access to test servers to participate in the testing of the upcoming changes - still paying full price for less service

If you have already installed the EVE Client, skip to step 3
1. Download the Tranquility client: http://www.eve-online.com/download/ 2. Install the Tranquility client 3. Rename your install to "EVE Online TQ" or something of your choice (ofc i already had one...reinstalled freshly after i broke my TQ install with the renaming hassle when i tried for the first time some weeks ago)
4. Install another copy of EVE Online, download the client here http://www.eve-online.com/download/ i just made a copy. that should be ok, right?
5. Rename that to "EVE Online Singularity" or something of your choice i left the name "Copy of EVE Online.app" to use it as a backup... 6. Go here: http://www.eve-online.com/patches/patches.asp?s=singularity 7. Download the latest Tranquility to Singularity patch 8. Execute it and point it to the install called "EVE Online Singularity" i just took the "EVE Online.app" since it would rename it back to that name anyway and since i made a backup it shouldn't matter, right? 9. Note that the client you just patch changed name to "EVE Online" again see above, i took the fun out of it because i didn't bother with the renaming :P 9. So, rename it to "EVE Online Singularity" again did so, and renamed my backup to the normal name "EVE Online.app" so my dock icon will still launch the TQ version 10. Run the client. did so, but just to see if it works. it started fine with the correct version i expected from the patch.
i stopped t again and went to "~/Library/Preferences/Eve Online/Preferences/p_drive/Local Settings/Application Data/CCP/EVE/c_program_files_ccp_eve_tranquility/settings/"
opened "prefs.ini" and added the line server=87.237.38.50 saved it and fired up the SiSi copy... beside the login input fields i then see: Checking Status... ...Server: Test Server (Singularity)... Status unknown now ofc a test server isn't always available so i try a bit later, a day later, a couple of days later. everytime the same. waiting some time to make sure it's not just a matter of time (SiSi never was too responsive back in 2003, and not in 2007 when i once tried from a windows box) but no, waiting for a couple of hours didn't help either.
pushing connect anyway ofc failed (wasn't really expecting anything else but hey, i try everything before i bother posting on the forums).
yesterday i also got a message about some new patch being available (0 MB in size). so i guess there is a new release on SiSi that has no mac patch yet available.
so i posted about that in this forum. i expected some reply like "we have a new release on test servers, be patient the mac patch will be updated soon, devs have been made aware" (see, as being a developer myself i don't expect too much).
but just getting a link to this forum thread as a reply makes me feel a bit angry as it shows to me that i'm not being taken serious. or how should i take that response? :(
