Since Cruel Intentions have no intentions of participating, When Fat Kids Attack will reclaim their place in the tournament. We wish them the best of luck.
Lol fail alert.
Oh thats nothing - imagine the fail had CI, even at late notice wanted to compete. Now that would of been a wiki entry under fail

Silky smooth tournament organization. Bring back Vegeta
And with all the bribe me for tournament slot posts out there, this must be the most chaotic tourney, and it hasn't even started.
What thread do I post in to bribe the judges?
I still love how last tounry when my team lost ships after the match ended and they counted them as points. GM Nova rewarded point for kills after the cease fire was called, wtf.

yes cut them some slack, they had to work really hard on coming up with a plan to close our alliance early, just to get HUN reloaded in. you cant expect them to spend a bunch of extra time to actually get the reserves list in the correct order.

That was supposed to be tongue in cheek, maybe next time I'll use a smiley, just so the slow people know whats what.
This has been the worst executed tourney I've witnessed. The one Lemonde handled was great and he was so young. How is it possible that it degenerated into this farce? Who's fault is it, are we right to want to blame people?
If I were a current team captain, and considering that my alt was in UCAM not so long ago that could have been possible, :P, I would pull my team out and encourage that others do the same. This should hopefully force ccp to abandon this mess and flush it like an abortion.
After that, rebuild. Reset the applications and give everyone entering a week to reply. If anyone is left behind then **** em. If you haven't been paying attention to something you supposedly have devoted your alliance to then you have no place taking part.

These tournaments have devolved the same way most competative games do when changed to be more mainstream, it needs to be somewhat elitist to remain interesting, as a comparison CS was made more and more mainstream by Valve and the highend competative play became less interesting over time as the avg Joe was helped by changes to the game.
Lemond did a good job with the design of the original tournament imo, sure it was expensive and required good SP chars and alot of planing to be competative but to me that's what made it both fun and interesting, when changed to allow every alliance a more fair chance the excitement of seeing the biggest and the best fight it out disapered.

I don't know if your trolling on purpose or not, but i'll bite.
I strongly disagree, I enjoyed the last tournment a lot, wheres the fun in watching a bunch of cashed up vets fly faction ships, elitism is a bad thing in any sport as it implies favoritism and in no way makes the sport more interesting to the average viewer.
The way the tournment's setup now everyone has an even chance and it gives people the scope to be creative and design clever tactics while at the same time places all the teams on even starting footing. Can the same be said of previous tournements, even the fourth tournemnet favored the alliances that could afford to supply multiple pilots with high grade implant sets, I think this years descion to remove them makes things much more interesting.
The teams that do well in this tournement will be the ones who put the most thought into their setups and utilise the best teamwork and I think thats the way it should be. No one in Eve should be given the Silver spoon treatment, which is a big reason why people are responding negatively to the handling of this "reserves list", it's also interesting to note most of the people responding favorably are the said 'cashed up vets'... Interesting.
I'm looking forward to the tournement, now if only CCP didn't screw up so many things, but with recent bungles over patches etc and now things like this it suggests they have a bit of a quality control issue.

CAOD is that way => We don't really need that in here.....
I think most people reading this forum agrees that the signup process for this tournament has been fubahr'd to the max by CCP. Silly and changing decisions and a general lack of anything remotely resembling professional handling. The previous tournament organiser did a much better job than the current one.
I fully understand both BoB and CI's desicions not to run. Telling them 3 days before (with the test server down too) is a joke! Add to that the comedy effect of one of the withdrawn teams not having withdrawn anyway and the failboat is full...
As for 'elite' vs 'commoners', it can be argued that 'elite' is much more exciting. You get to cheer some teams on, and hate others! With this tournament lineup, most people will not know more than 1 out of 5 of the teams (maybe less), thus they'll not care.

Not trolling at all, just giving my opinion the way i see it.
I strongly disagree, I enjoyed the last tournment a lot, wheres the fun in watching a bunch of cashed up vets fly faction ships, elitism is a bad thing in any sport as it implies favoritism and in no way makes the sport more interesting to the average viewer.
This is where we simply will have do disagree, now i might know who 2-3 teams are and as such will have no interest in keeping track untill the final if a team i know ends up in it.
There is more then enough big alliances that have the isk to compete at this lvl and the tactics is just as complex, hell even more with pirate implants as you have another dimension to your team with those bonuses.
Never said i thought the reserve list was handled in a good way, top of the list shuld have the spot, either way we'r not interested on this short notice so mehh.
I'm looking forward to the tournement

Huh. Whiners always blame CCP in theyr troubles. For instance if a team withdraws 1 hour before tourney starts it is still CCP's fault? :D
Actually if they were interested in participating : 1) They would actually sign up in time. ( Mkay lets skip that part due to real life trouble and stuff, which i think is just an excuse) 2) They would be ready to perform anyway even in a reserve list.
Actually that is the position of an orginized team that is aimed to win.

You may not have noticed it, but both both BoB and CI had been REMOVED from the reserves list I understand why you might have missed it, since it would require you to actually read the thread you're replying to. So, as they're not on the reserve list, why should they have continued to train for a tournament they weren't in???
This, and the first-come method of signing up, AND all the other changing decisions and mistakes by GM Nova, fully validated the "signup process fubahr'd to the max by CCP" part.
Go away CCP fanboi! No matter how much you love them, your heroes made a horrible mess of this tournament!

Before this matter gets misrepresented any more, here is a link to the announcement which followed the refund of the signup fee.

As you can see, it actually states that all teams are still considered as being on the reserve list.

As Bosze here implies, I beg to differ in regards to your view on the "elitism" matter.
The Alliance tournaments implies that the best and most commited of the alliances should battle for the crown. If you want to compete with the big boys, you need to up the stakes and put the money on the table. And basically, it all comes down to ISK. And it, imho, should. If you don't have the high end SP characters, you and your alliance can buy it. If you don't have the faction ships you want to field, you can buy it. If you don't got the pirate implants, you can buy that too. It all comes down to how much commitment you, your team and your alliance has and is willing to put down.
So there you have the ISK. ISK rules EVE. Ofcourse ISK won't help you if you don't got a solid team and a solid battle plan. That can't be bought.

The elitist "this isn't what it used to be" argument always pops up in games, usually by the old timers who back in the early days dominated the field, but couldn't cope with the competition when it became accessible to a wider audience.
