5% dmg or 5% rate of fire for guns? Large guns. Can one of you math wizards help me out? I'm drunk and tired and suck at math.

Depends on the weapons you use most often. If its mostly projectile, I'd go for RoF. If its lasers or hybrids, I'd go damage (since faster RoF means bigger cap drain)

ROF implant will give more DPS, but Damage implant gives higher alpha strike. Comparing the above implants, you'll need to fire off 20 volleys before the total damage caused with the ROF implant exceeds that of the Damage implant. - - - - - -

Originally by: Vessper ROF implant will give more DPS, but Damage implant gives higher alpha strike. Comparing the above implants, you'll need to fire off 20 volleys before the total damage caused with the ROF implant exceeds that of the Damage implant.
ROF also means faster volleys. Which can give you a very large edge in specific situations. Or in fact in every situation except "((Tank!= N volleys)&(Tank= 1.05xN Volleys)&(0<N<20))"
Of course it's not worse either unless the ship you're shooting at gets off another volley (or does something else that is detrimental) in the time between your hypothetical RoF boosted volley destroys him and your hypothetical Damage-boosted volley.
Ship Alive/Dead is a boolean situation here. Either they're fully functional (barring e-war) or they're dead. Unless you're in a situation where your 5% boosted volleys destroy a ship without requiring an extra volley anyway the RoF is better since it will deliver the volleys faster.
In the end it's mostly a matter of Damage over time in a lenghty battle (+RoF) compared to Ammo/cap consumption (+Damage). ______________________________________________ -You can never earn my respect, only lose it. It's given freely, and only grudgingly retracted when necessary. |

Great info, Thank you! I was leaning towards RoF as well, it's on a pve Kronos, and without any hard math I was thinking RoF would be better for me. Thanks again to all.
